A. We are "buying" it because as I've said (if you bothered to read any of my posts, which I doubt, knowing your general desposition towards me), his speculations are grounded.

B. You imply too much that people like Kaku are doing this only for the money--perhaps that's the sort of environment and the sort of people you grew up in (in which case your demeanor here in iStorya.net is very telling of that fact), and makes you automatically assume that people like him have absolutely no noble intent.

C. It isn't even HIS theory (I keep wondering where guys like you get that idea)--I already posted the link to the Kardashev scale--Kaku is merely using his ability as a good speaker and science advocate to explain the Kardashev scale better.

The universe will die either in "ice" (open universe) or in "fire" (closed universe), in which even type III civilizations will be unable to escape the final destiny of universe.

Do you know what is type III civilization? have you even meet one? or at least know what is a type III civilization? until then i suggest you don't speculate..

Einstein could be right or could be wrong on his theories but for type III civilization.. naah as a type 0, I dont want to speculate.

Ang problema sa majority of the population kay dili man ang abilidad nila to speculate--ang problema sa mga karaniwang tao kay tuohan man dayon ang speculation. Ang rason niani kay naprogram na man gud sa simbahan/relihiyon or people in authority (i.e. landed politicians/landlords) ang utok sa karaniwang tawo, nga DAPAT DYUD tuo-han ang usa ka authoritative source, mao nga ang mga pobre or mga simple minded folk dali ra kaayo ma ninlang or mailad kay ing ana lagi ang naandan--unsay isulti sa pari or santopapa or local officials MOTUO DAYON kay that's what they got used to, for HUNDREDS of years.

This is the WRONG part--everyone has the RIGHT to speculate. Speculation is inherent in the development of the human mind--it allows the mind to imagine scenarios which may or may not happen, so that the envisioning of these events can help prepare that individual or stretch his or her mind for possibilities. This sort of activity helps develop maturity, confidence, and above all, a critical mind that can think for himself/herself. The only problem with speculation is UNGUIDED speculation, not guided by the principles of science and the scientific method, or one that is dictated by a third party that has some vested interest in the individual(s) seeking out or practicing this speculation.

Meanwhile, the simbahan/corrupt leaders of a country, mas ganahan man na sila nga ang mga tawo mang-mang, kay ngano? Their established institutions will die, if the ordinary people become empowered, kay wala nama'y motuo nila--mawala ilang control sa status quo, and they are very very afraid of the day when the average Filipino's intelligence would be above-average, kay guba dyud ilang mga plano.

Again, there is NOTHING WRONG with speculation if it's GROUNDED--it is empowering and mind-stretching. The key to speculization is simple--you have to know that it is indeed speculation and NOT the truth.

Yeah, you put it nicely Sir Rodsky. But don't get me wrong, you are right when you said unguided speculations is the problem since it usually leads us to a different side of the story. I believe that "grounded" speculation might often lead us to some set of interesting questions where any resolutions will actualize the speculations or we dismiss it anyway for lack of merit. Speculations on other hand are always easy targets for criticism. A reasonable speculation for one person may be pure rubbish to another. If we don't have an open mind then I guess it's difficult for us to take speculations.
And as for the example you made there, the "cliche" church/corrupt government.. I kinda agree with you on some level.
