Buy the most expensive camera that you can afford, If you can afford a 5dmkii go for it. In the long run mag upgrade gihapon ka. Sa imung pag upgrade puhon palit nalang na ug new lens rather than seeing your cam 1 year gikan sa imung pag purchase naa na sa buy and sell section.

tomorrow, who knows what's next. i'm pretty sure people will continue to make their mark in the art of photography.

the important thing is to adapt to new technology and make something special out of it. if you can't do that, just give up and get left behind.

the people who get left behind are the ones who usually complain that "talent is gone." but the reality is - real talent will continue to thrive.

but regarding choosing the right camera, get the one with the most useful features. good noise handling, AF without a motor, as many focus points as possible, etc etc. just make sure you know what your camera is capable of after buying it. study it inside out. test its limitations. and don't let those limitations become a crutch. find ways to make your shots better with or without the camera. mao ra jud nay importante. kibaw ka sa kaya sa imo gi palit, and find ways to go beyond it.
somewhat the meaning of talent can easily be distorted with the aid of technology
and its not being left behind when some chose to do or perform things, esp in some discipline in the arts, with the crudest, and most traditional manner possible.

And in the case of photography a lot of latent skills & talent has been awakened in most individuals with their quest in fulfilling that perfect photo they took---they discovered they have skills in photoshop when trying to be a real good photographer

Bottomline is a lot has learned, acquired or improve their talent in post-processing through photography
    but not photography itself.

And not wanting to have that kind of technological aid or "talent" applied to their craft in photography is by choice and not being left behind. Hell... I learned adobe photoshop with windows 98 in my trade as graphic artist even way before digicams where popular and affordable

The technology of going digital has already served us well of not having to spend money on rolls of films and be more precise with our shots---just fire away and delete those you don't want to keep, and not having to wait for the results of final print spending time and money developing negatives.

    nahala its talent man kaha
hey I have a talent making pop-corn in lesser time
I just pop in the microwave press some buttons and just wait watch tv
and it'll be done even before that 2 set of TV commercials is over.

same ra na you discovered your good at swimming when your TRYING to be a good surfer
kay sige ka katagak, tumba or ma wipe out so dapat maayo gyud ka mulangoy wahahahah

And what is this you say about "adapt to new technology"?
Because adapting or adaptabilty means being able to do or survive w/o those conveniences or aid that made things a lot easier.

Technology is not suppose to be adapted but rather its an aid to our conveniences and to do things with less effort and time

True, technology should not be used as a crutch to your creativity. It's a good thing that a person knows how to make good photographs even without relying on post processing.

Hell, I already knew photoshop even before going into photography. Yet, I still learned how to manipulate my camera and learned how to do the things I can do with photoshop without it.

Examples are, rather than shoot multiple exposures for my landscapes, I still decided to invest in a GND filter to expose the sky and foreground properly. Also, aside from using the blur tool for my outdoor portraits, I invested in a lens with a decent bokeh and learned how to manipulate the aperture to get that perfect DOF.

However, sometimes, we are limited by our equipment. We can spend only so much on a good body and a good lens. It's a boon to realize that when I take a good enough shot but it seems to be out of focus, or underexposed, I have the knowledge and skill to post process it to make the shot better than it was when I took the shot. At the same time, I'll also know where I've gone wrong, and know not to make the same mistakes on a similar shoot. In the meantime, I have a shot to show to my client.

In the same scenario, had I not adapted to new technology, I'll still learn from my mistakes but I won't have a final product to show for.

Another argument that could be made is, "I can't afford $2,000 on an 85mm f/1.2. Adobe Photoshop CS5 costs only $60. I can produce similar final products with photoshop." So we don't always need expensive lenses or bodies to produce great shots. Therein lies the talent.

I know a cosplay photographer who shoots with a 350D and a 50mm f/1.8 and she produces breathtaking photos with the help of photoshop. If you saw her shots, you'd think she was shooting with a 1D or a D3 and an L or N lens. Are you saying she has no talent?
