Barrett Brown Says Anonymous Attack on Drug Cartels Still Alive | PCWorld
Deadline Nov 6. (Philippine Time)
"We canīt defend ourselves with a weapon, but if we can do this with their cars, houses, bars, brothels and everything else in their possession ... It wonīt be difficult. We all know who they are and where they are."
"Everything you do on Facebook stays on Facebook regardless of your 'privacy' settings, and deleting your account is impossible,"
talk about "Information Privacy", count me in as "willing hacktivist". i was once a registered user of FB until day came that i decided to refrain from using it, from that point i realized why some people hated that social networking site.. that line in quotes above that Anonymous said... is TRUE especially on the part about "deleting your account is impossible". why? check your Account Settings and see if you can find such link that would say "Delete account", "Cancel Account", "Close Account", and the likes...
you can't find any except for "DEACTIVATE" my account... and yeah.. it does what it should be LITERALLY. from that itself, how can a user be able to remove all his/her information on the account when the only thing that happens when a user decides to discontinue usage of it is simply DEACTIVATING the account. DEACTIVATE is not DELETE, ERASE, REMOVE, CLOSE... not even the spelling. and if that's the case, it clearly points out to one thing..... the account is still alive in FB's database with all the information intact.
I've tried it myself with my own account... I typed in my login credentials... hit on Login.. Welcome back to Facebook! and everything on the account(from photos to videos uploaded, profile info, EVERYTHING) are all intact the looked exactly the same from the last time i logged in supposedly to DELETE my account.
where's Information Privacy on that? and don't get me wrong.... we're on the 21st Century. even an innocent lady waiting for a cab gets robbed up front and the culprit then just turns around walks like he is walking on a red carpet. how worse can it be in the most public place in the face of the earth which is the INTERNET / WORLD WIDE WEB (WWW) where people has all the luxury to conceal his identity?
FACEBOOK should give their users FREEDOM as what Anonymous was pointing out. If you really think logically you might get to have these questions in mind too...... Aside from stating the very illogical and obvious reasons that FB said during press releases... What is/are the PURPOSE/REASONS of Facebook that they still keep User Information (private or public) on their database? Why can't they just ERASE those information when a user decides to discontinue from using it? WHY?
