@loewe: To give you an idea, arisarnado is around 5 feet 10 inches tall and with a 135mm I had to stand 55 feet away from him to get a full body shot. An 85mm on a 1.6 crop will require you to stand half a basketball court away to shoot full body shoots of three people side by side. There was one cosplay event where some photographers first used their 70-200s only to switch to wider lenses because all they can get with the 70-200 are heads and shoulders shots. This was indoors by the way. You can get full body shoots with the 70-200, 100, 135 outdoors BUT ONLY IF you have a clear line of sight in a public event. Ok ra if you have paid models and you're the only photographer or you're with a small group taking turns shooting the model.

If by portraits you mean mostly heads and shoulders, then for a crop, go for the 135mm but for a bit more flexibility, get the 85mm or the 70-200. But if you want heads and shoulders and environmental portraits, better get the 24-70s, 28-75s, 24-105s, 28-135s.

I also want the 135mm F2L but decided that I'm better off with a good quality zoom. I want to shoot the legs too you know (wink wink).

e search sa youtube boss ang focusing speed nya...have you tried other prime lens with f2.8? maybe you can compare the speed between the two.

if you're doing macro shots, almost all of the time mag manual focus ka ana.

BUT..if portrait ra jd imong gamitan ug macro, then go for the 100mm.

@loewe: Ha ha, I wish I had a 70-200 maski F4L IS lang. I only know about these focal lengths because at one time I had them. I had the kit lens 18-55mm, 100-300mm, 28-105mm -- all sold. I tried prime manual focus lenses - 28mm, 58mm, 85mm, an 135mm and I found out that I liked the 28, 58, 135 - all sold. The only lens I have right now is my el-cheapo 50mm 1.8. The Jupiter-9 85mm is up for sale (disguised ad, ahem).

Duha duha pako between Tamron 28-75 F2.8 vs Canon 24-105 F4.
