ambut mga bro, lisud man uy kay wala pay ning confirm gyud na 100% na exhibitor or concessionaire. kung dili kaya dili nako pugson kay makatapal nya ko....
its sad to hear that this is getting out of hand but honestly speaking i wasn't surprised. as you might not know, i was a marketing manager before for 3 years and the way i see this is simply way out of hand. i just didn't want to say anything against it for the fact that i am not a part of the organizing committee.
organizing an event like this especially in SM will require the organizer to provide the cash first. sponsors will never commit to anything especially when they see nothing. its sad but true, practically sponsors would always want to have more than what they can give. in this case, i cant even see a single piece of notice or advertisement of Toyphilia 2006 outside istorya.net and take note that the event date is just 2 weeks away.
when wats contacted if i wanted to become an exhibitor, i had 2 questions in mind
1.will there be a place to put our collections?
2.is there a guarantee of safety from theft for our collections?
unfortunately i didn't get a satisfying answer ..
i hope this doesn't sound like a bash. its not. i just thought maybe its the reason why there's no 100% confirmation yet.
it's ok, i won't take it as a bash. Number 1, lisud kayu ang stands, grabeh ka mahal to rent it out and if you notice, there aren't really any shelves for rent out there. Same with manila. i went to toycon. the exhibitors paid for their stuff to be displayed and brought their own customized shelves. I guess what i asked for was too much for some bisaya colelctor's.
Number 2, as of safety, there will be guards, of course additional bayad sa SM. plus the place will be locked, with me having 1 set of keys, and the SM admin. But i don't really remember you asking me question number 2. As for advertisement, Got deals with RCTV, Monster RAdio, Sunstar, GrafixPro and Citiprinters to do the collaterals. but what's the point now when walay sponsor, concessionaire or exhibitor right?
Most groups who commited backed out last minute, for the reason that they were scared of this event.
My last ditch effort was to ask the support of collectors, to show off what they have, to at least show SM and the other sponsors who just wanted to wait and see what happens to this event that this is an interesting event, even for a small city like Cebu. But only very few would even reply to my texts.
So i guess lisud gyud ni ma buhat... no support from sponsors as well as local hobby shops and the majority of the collectors (when this event was supposed to be for them).
Total media package would cost 30k for tv, 15k for radio, 25k for newspaper and 15k for print materials. Made a sweet deal of raking in an average of 10k per sponsor to give them all these plus a booth in SM. A lot showed interest, but decided to wait and see because they said "we trust that a lot of people will come to see the exhibit, but who will be there to provide the collectibles."
I guess i was too optimistic about the local support...
for those who supported without question, I highly appreciate it and thank you for believing in it. I will inform you if this event will push through.
hi wats. hopefuilly this will push thru coz i already ordered 2 display cabinets. and these don't come cheap. i just want to join because i always envy the guys in manila when they have this toy exhibit held every year. last year i didn't really bother to join coz of the venue. but now it's going to be in sm so i am so excited bout this exhibit. the crowd that will see and admire your collection. it's always the start that's hard next year evey major toy shop and hobby shop would be asking for more of this kind of event if all goes well that's why this should push thru! we're cebuanos look at our cicc hehe it's 99.99 done in a matter of weeks. so the exhibit should be ready in a week or so. i believe in this project and am willing to support it. i'll see you tom. was busy in the office when you texted. hopefully we could discuss and finalize details tom.
