well, i think true creativity is the ability to adapt to new technology and create something out of it. if a person says, "creativity becomes obsolete because of new technology," this simply means that that person isn't creative enough.
example: modern day film prospector photographers at downtown churches do not prosper and are stuck in their old ways because they refuse (be it financial issues, or a distorted sense of principle) to adapt to new technology and create something out of it.
my bottom line is, go Lytro. bring it. i'll still be here.
more possibilities sa lytro cameras when you will focus in post processing nah. kung barato ni why not give it a try dba? but still i'll hang on to dslr since nindot man sad ang feeling of fulfillment when you get to see a great shot knowing na it is you who focused the shot, chose the exposure, metering, white balance, etc. and according to my uncle same daw ni sa issue sauna about AF vs non-AF nga lenses/bodies since a few of those na-anad na sa manual focusing before said that AF would hinder the development of the art kay mawala na daw ang skill sa pag manual focus. they were wrong jud kay daghan diri sa ato naka-manual focus gihapon even if their lenses are AF capable nah.. hehehehe... but this Lytro technology is amazing... heheheh... malingaw jud ko ani for sure!
I see this great for those once in a lifetime moments especially with friends and families. How many out-of-focus pictures we still keep just because of the cherished memories they bring.
But, yes, the camera itself is not for professional use... fixed f2 aperture, not much control over exposure, don't see any connection for flash either on or off camera nor studio lights (I guess this would be where continuous lighting would be a perk),
DOF is always shallow (no focus to infinity... unless there's an algorithm in the software to combine all the in-focus parts of the picture to one image)... and someone mentioned resulting images are only 500x500.
So the camera isn't much... though the technology will be as revolutionary as auto-exposure was back in the old days
And here's the camera!...
and a look at the insides...
I wouldn't use this in my commercial shoots but I would love to have this around for those moments of serendipity with my family and friends.
ok pod ni kay kausa ra shoot nya daghan ka ma pilian sa imo DOF. pero dili ni maau pod og mahal ni.
I read this one in popular mechanics, hehehe, tinoud cguro jud ni,
All I can say is that it's one odd looking camera Looks like a bottle of perfume.
