Default ST. BERNARD puppy: how to take care of them

I have a St. Bernard puppy, he is only 4months old and I'd like to know the things that I need to do to take care of him...

My puppy plays a lot..! I thought of hiring someone to train him for basic obedience because he does not listen to me. Even if he sleeps a lot, once he is awake, he jumps on me kung dili gani magpa-ak pa-ak sa akong slippers/shoes ug sa akong pants.

elo, i had one before but he died last september.. tsk tsk tsk

what's the coat of your pup and can i ask where you got it from? although they say island born saints are well adapted to the climate already (especially the short coated type), i'd still say they'd do better if they had cooler living conditions.. i would advise you to keep your pup in a cool well ventilated area, much better if your pup can stay in air conditioned quarters although the problem there would be your pup's laway na pud all over the place.. hehe
they seem to love water.. especially with ice... the saint i had loved to eat his dogfood when added with water.. keep the water he drinks clean so that the coat under his muzzle wont be stained..
grooming is quite a handful also.. as one breeder put, saints are giant shih tzus..

the St. Bernard is much loved as a gentle family companion. They are bred to be one best human companion and savior of human lives.
If not given proper training , it would be a disaster considering they are really big dogs.
Pleae allow me to give you a reference:

Saints can be easy to train because they like to please their people, but difficult to train if the owner waits too long or is inconsistent in training methods or commands. Since the pup is already bigger than most adult dogs of toy breeds at eight weeks of age, is the size of a Cocker Spaniel at 10 weeks, and can reach 65 pounds by 20 weeks, training should begin early -- preferably at the breeder's.

The breed needs a moderate amount of outdoor exercise and tends to be quiet in the house after outgrowing the puppy stages. A sturdy fence will keep him in the yard, and long walks two or three times a week should suffice to keep him in shape. A Saint left to his own devices, without proper exercise and training, can be destructive _ and a household with a destructive Saint is likely to resemble a disaster area.

We the CLICK CONNECTION offers all possiblke means for your Saint to be a well behave dog:

Got one... He is 2 years old and he just freely roams around in the compound. Other than the usual minor cuts and bruises, he has adapted well in our place. We live in the south, in Minglanilla. He plays together with a cross bred doberman and bull mastiff bitch.. some pictures - http://www.friendster.com/photos/43646676/1/116747962
