In the early years as a professional prizefighter, the prizemoney is a VERY big motivation for a boxer. Imagine living in a hand to mouth existence and a manager takes you in to fight in the ring. Nope, the glory of the Philippine Republic will be the farthest thing in the mind of a prizefighter. It is the money that he gets as payment for his stepping up into the ring.

Now why are our Olympic boxers who garnered Olympic medals not treated as such? why are they not given Lieutenant or Captain ranks? Why are they stuck at Private First Class or Sargent? They are the ones who fight for the honor of the country despite meager allowances and pay. They do not get any prize money from fighting in the ring. They box only for the love of the sport and country.

Malacaņang has already clarified that Pacquiao was conferred the honorary title because of his elective post.
so talking about Manny as a boxer is irrelevant.

Come on guys, ok ra na oi. If the fighting stops when he fight inside the ring and then he gets promoted to a level capable of leading his own battalion to battle, then why not? Maybe someone who appointed him will send him to mindanao to end the conflict there. Ain't that good? No loss of lives?
