Guns were invented not for protection against the elements or for sport or for hunting but with the simple purpose to fight other men.

Pellet (airsoft) guns were invented to replace real guns so people can 'play' war games without really killing - not to shoot at unsuspecting people (ladyboys?).

It is not that guns kill us, but the person behind it... If you leave a gun alone, it won't hurt or kill you, but give it to your enemy to use, then you die.. If you use it to defend yourself, then you're the killer, not the gun.

darn, i'm getting confused. One thing is for sure though, guns will always be around and unless the law governing its use in poorly enforced, we can only pray it won't be used on us...

Unlike knives, which you can use for cutting veggies and stuff, a gun has no other practical use that another tool can't already do. When you're carrying a gun to protect yourself, it is so that you can kill/harm someone before they can do the same to you. It is a killing tool first and foremost and yes it is killing us.

To all PRO gun people, what do you suggest so firearms won't be misused by misguided individuals? Should the government promote stricter/better laws? What are your thoughts on the current laws that our country has?

To all anti-gun people, would you be able to say that the country will be better off without guns at all? What are your preferred means for the military/police/security personnel to serve and protect us?

How many people here in Cebu have been killed by knives/sundangs/etc vs being shot for the past 10 years? I am speculating but I do believe it's not the gun who's on top.

Our government and the police, and even the military, have been advocating responsible firearm ownership. In the cases you are citing I think if the gun used in SM was purchased legally then the person who bought the weapon should be held accountable, too. Why wasn't it stored in an area that is inaccessible to kids? Much like you and me who fear for our own safety and of those that we love, we purchase a firearm in order to protect ourselves. PERO that does not mean our responsibilities stops there -- we also have huge responsibilities that come with owning a firearm.

In some cases, people own a gun for recreational purposes and do shooting as a hobby/sport. There is absolutely nothing to fear in a gun. Just ask the guys on this thread: https://www.istorya.net/forums/hobbie...iasts-301.html

In the case of street gang shootings, bank robberies, and other crimes, I have not seen the official reports but I will speculate that the guns used are paltik weapons and were acquired illegally.

In my opinion, if a criminal has a gun, then good people should have a gun, too, just to even the odds. To answer your question, the gun in this case is protecting the good people.
agree with this kay kung ang taw gani naay pusil pwerting isuga labi na mahubog magpa buto dayun nya himan2 dakpon na magtago-tago mao na take responsibility on your actions.
