Hundreds run for a cause in the first Vital run at North Point
Running is good for the heart, more so if you are running for a good cause and not for applause.
Last September 11, 2011, close to 600 runners proved they have the heart to save lives during the first Vital Run in Negros. The event was held in the 200-hectare North point, Negros' new address of choice. Developed by Ayala Land, Inc., North Point is the first fully integrated master-planned community in Negros with the full line of residential, business, educational, recreational and institutional facilities.
Runners and their families, and other spectators started coming in at 4:00 in the morning. Despite the early hours, everyone was excited and looking forward to a fun and healthy morning, not to mention to help raise funds for indigent E.R. patients of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Region Hospital. Everyone gathered at Avida Village North Point, where the start and finish lines were located. Avida Village North Point is just one of the many residential developments inside North Point.
Special running chip-based timing devices were used to ensure quick and accurate results. All runners were given free breakfast and were treated to a raffle, where prizes from the event sponsors were given away.
The charity run was a fund-raising event by Lingkod E.R., a non-profit organization with an advocacy to save the lives of indigent patients, and the Negros Group of Psychiatrists, an organization promoting mental health and well-being.
