I beg to disagree w/ you Sir ephrem, coz with the modern technologies now a days like - telephone, VHF radios, cellphones, emails , FB & yahoo chatting or webcams its as if were just home w/ our families, besides, Seafarers have short term contracts now compared to landbased OFW's.

FYI , Offshore have shorter contracts than the standard ship crews who have 9-10 months contract and 3-6months for the officers in deck and engine. So do not generalize Us. Perhaps the one you knew are those mga kulang sa pansin, lack of breeding ug sayon rang ma ilad , they have their own reasons, people differ in so many ways...and these people that you knew are just tip of an iceberg in the whole population of Seafarers.

Now, am talking in behalf of the hard working and family oriented seaman and their wives because am proud to be one of them!
