    how about this for $199?

    Samsung

    lets compare the specs.

Compare phones: Samsung GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus, Amazon Kindle Fire
    Samsung's $199 is with a 2-year contract with Sprint/Verizon... Kindle doesn't. Without a contract, it's around $350.

Why the Kindle Fire Succeeds Where Honeycomb Tablets Fail

This holiday season, most Americans won't be buying Samsung Galaxy Tabs or Acer Iconias. They'll be buying Amazon Kindle Fire case. That's because Amazon has learned a lesson other Android tablet manufacturers haven't: Tell buyers what you're supposed to do with the darn thing.

The Fire's $199 price will be a big component of its success, but it's not the only thing that makes the Fire compelling. If you're trying to introduce a new product category to Americans—and even with the iPad around, tablets are a new product category—you have to explain to people why they want it, in clear terms and without overwhelming them.

This has been a big problem for Android tablet vendors so far because Android tablets do everything, and they appear to be marketed by engineers.

Its not your typical android tablet you guys, here's a few reason why I won't be buying the Kindle Fire :

    1. Locked to the Amazon Marketplace : You can only buy and use apps from the Amazon Android Store.
    2. No Side Loading of apps : I'm sorry, Jack Sparrow.
    3. Cannot use 100% of the device's potential because it is locked so tight (Amazon does this on purpose because they sell these at a loss, they are expecting the profit to come from their Marketplace)

Unless the Kindle Fire gets rooted or gets custom roms, I'm put off by the amazon app store and the software layer Amazon put on it.

Rumors say Amazon put some sort of DRM software (or even hardware idk) so that when you attempt to install custom ROMs or whatever the device kills itself.

More Storage compared to the Kindle Fire... and I'm sure Cyanogenmod will do something about the lockdown, they managed to do it with the regular nook.
