the thread is misleading... TS im from mindanao. and not all of mindanao is samok/gubot. para sah uban kahigalaan diri... mindanao is not the "wild west" of the philippines.

i grew up in zamboanga, my friends grew up in there. you want the list of my friends, classmates, the entire family, the entire population?

people outside mindanao has this misconception that zamboanga/jolo (MINDANAO!? WTF) is like somalia. anyone who didnt grew up there are scared to go there. I've been to jolo, my other inlaws lives there. it's peaceful.

I've seen black hawk down, it's NO WHERE NEAR LIKE THAT! i can assure you that it's just like any cities in the philippines with NPA's. Isolated on some small regions of the barangays or countryside.

some parts of the mindanao especially jolo have clan feuds. if some member of their family is killed, expect some form of retaliation. My classmate and his entire family went to exiled because their distant cousin killed someone. This is "how justice works" there. you cant just shoot anyone for no reason at all. mas mahadlok ka sa retaliation.

jolo is dangerous for foreigners because of abusayaf. sila ang mga lawless criminal didto.

will nobody's questioning you opinion you quoted wikipedia so im asking for other sources, i live in davao, agusan, cagayan and surigao only, tried staying in lanao for a month but thats just it...

movie most of time are over-acting... so i dont really like to compare movie with reality...

sorry, i misunderstood what you meant by sources. i thought you were referring to sources of my description of Jolo.

I dont know other sources of the movie. I saw the moview and it's how i felt also about situation in mindanao. sorry dude.
