Lenovo is releasing the ThinkPad tablet on August 23rd, 2011. This will be the first tablet products released from Lenovo. We hope Lenovo will establish a reputation for building quality tablets similar to Asus. Our website is dedicated to reviewing Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet, in particular the hardware, software, display, build and media.
Build of the ThinkPad Tablet
Lenovo has designed quite a unique build for their premiere tablet. A picture is worth a thousand words, so look at the slideshow below:
Specific dimensions have not been published yet by Lenovo, but it appears the dimensions are going to be 10x7x1. This tablet is a little thicker than the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Asus Transformer, but there is a reason behind it. The Lenovo ThinkPad tablet has a full size USB port which is very uncommon in tablets. Lenovo’s thinking behind this to accommodate to business professionals that use USB flash drives consistently. This tablet also features a microSD slot, mini HDMI port, a SIM card slot and a mini USB port making it one of the most comprehensive tablets port wise. This android tablet is going to have 9 hours of battery life which is above average for a tablet of this size.
There is an optional keyboard case available for the Lenovo ThinkPad tablet that can essentially turn the tablet in to a netbook.
Display of the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet
The display of this Lenovo tablet is 10.1 inches. The pixel density is 1200×800, which is on par with other high quality android tablets of this size. The glass used for the display of this tablet is top of the line. It is IPS Gorilla Glass that is highly sensitive to touch.
Another feature the ThinkPad tablet comes with is a stylist pen which allows you to draw detailed images and mark up projects on your tablet. We think this feature will be extremely useful for business purposes.
Hardware on the Lenovo Tablet
The ThinkPad tablet is going to have a Tegra 2 1 GHz processor. This is the standard processor for a higher end tablet. To supplement the processor, this tablet has 1 GB of RAM. Overall these are good hardware specs for a android tablet. It will get the job done for almost anything you ask of it. There are three different storage capacities for this tablet: 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. Connectivity wise, this tablet has bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 3G capabilities.
Software on the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet
Android 3.1 Honeycomb is what the Lenovo ThinkPad is going to be shipped with. This is a great operating system for tablets. It allows you customize your tablet to your liking and has the android app store which has almost every app under the sun. As we mentioned earlier, this tablet was designed for business professionals. Lenovo thought that business professionals would like to have extra security features to keep their documents safe so they installed SD card encryption, a lost device mechanism and anti-theft software, and a tool to sync your PC with your tablet.
Media on the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet
We do not know much about the media capabilities of this tablet. What we do know is this: It has a 2 Mega-Pixel front facing camera used for self portraits and video chatting and a 5 Mega-Pixel rear facing camera. This tablet can also play 1080p video which will be great for watching videos.

We think the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet is going to be a success in the business world. The plethora of ports this tablet has is extremely useful for anybody that is going to be doing serious work on their tablet. The hardware also allows for you to perform many tasks at once on your tablet. The security features can help you sleep at night knowing your tablet is protected. Finally the Stylist pen puts it over the top allowing for you to easily mark up any projects or take any notes you need to during your business projects.
