MERGED: MARTIAL LAW and related issues

This thread is not about the personalities, but the event. Martial Law was declared 39 years ago and lifted 30 years ago. The comparison to Singapore was more of 'what could have been' and 'what it is now' for the Philippines.

My impression of the event was that the country did not exactly learn from it, including the leaders, from Cory right after the dictator to her son now. The Philippines continues to be a 'developing nation', even after 40 years.

sa akong opinion lang..ang pilipinas nag kinahanglan jud ug martial law..ang tanan taw gikan sa kinatas-ang position hantod sa pinaka common nga taw kelangan ug disiplina..and i believe martial law/dictatorship is the closest solution to that..

^^ it will be tough. It will be controversial. The usual protesters will be right down the streets quicker than we can say amen.

While we're at it, these protesters.. they never seem to run out of issues to go against. During the martial Law regime and even before then, their cries of imperialism, fascism, etc. remain the same today. Except for a few familiar faces, those at the front lines are probably newly 'indoctrinated'. I have seen many of them, a really good number of them now at the 'other side of the fence'. Already in government and the target of the protests. And many of them too living a life they so adamantly criticized before.. bourgeois. If this cycle continues, I don't see the country moving on like how we want it to...

39 years ago during those days corruptions and killings of innocent people were happened, even imported goods can't penetrate like apples, oranges, strawberries and grapes. Only those who have the power can do whatever they want to do. They can do whatever they want but, for those who are very poor, unlucky became starved until death comes.

There is no Right Leader nor Right Law for this freaking twisted country... no one is wrong, everyone thinks they've got the right judgment.

Instead of Looking at Singapore, why Look at the other Side, North Korea Perhaps.

From Singapore we can learn lessons about how to do things right. From North Korea, we can learn why we SHOULD do things right.

But I would rather we look within and ask ourselves why prosperity is so elusive.

Singapore is not under Martial Law that's why they're progressive. Singaporean government is not corrupt like Marcos,Gloria,etc.
