Overall mountain view has been our place for relaxation. We have been constant customers and cherishing every visit we make until today when we brought our parents who are both senior citizens equipped with senior citizen's ID. When our parents, who are both SENIOR CITIZENS, emphasis provided, checked in for an executive room they presented their senior citizen IDs hoping that they'd be given discount, as this is what is mandated by RA 9994 or otherwise known as "The Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010".

Unfortunately according to the in-charge, they don't extend senior citizens discount to their rooms. We were surprised and clarified with the in-charge but she insisted that this is according to the instructions of Lennie Aliman Owner and Manager of the said resort. She also bragged that Lennie is also a huge stockholder of sunpride. Are we supposed to be threatened? I don't think so.

We are more than willing to bring this to court even!!! Resorts should uphold the law!!!

AN ACT GRANTING ADDITIONAL BENEFITS AND PRIVILEGES TO SENIOR CITIZENS, FURTHER AMENDING REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7432, AS AMENDED, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS "AN ACT TO MAXIMIZE THE CONTRIBUTION OF SENIOR CITIZENS TO NATION BUILDING, GRANT BENEFITS AND SPECIAL PRIVILEGES AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES"

"SEC. 4. Privileges for the Senior Citizens. -

The senior citizens shall be entitled to the following:

"(a) the grant of twenty percent (20%) discount and exemption from the value -added tax (VAT), if applicable, on the sale of the following goods and services from all establishments, for the exclusive use and enjoyment or availment of the senior citizen

on the utilization of services in hotels and similar lodging establishments, restaurants and recreation centers;

I hope the Office of the Senior Citizens Affair shall act upon this issue in due time and penalize erring violators of the law...

You can go to court bro .. all establishments should follow the Law for the benefit of senior citizens. Just be sure that you kept the receipts as evidence.

maybe they forgot to make this as a rule cause it is rare for a senior citizen to go there, i guess
