My French friend in the net, Laurent Pasteur asked my assistance to present aquatic wildlife here in the Philippines for study and conservation. He even asked me to have a video chat with him and finally I give in to his request. I presented to him our finds in the different trekking we undertake. I show him the picture of a goby we caught at Balirong for him to identify also. This is the said fish.

He said it is Sicyopus cebuensis which is rare and endangered
Fishwise - Sicyopus cebuensis - Shao & Chen 1998
Shao and Chen discovered this in 1998 at Uling, Naga. This is Red listed as endangered.

The International Union for the Conservation of Nature is the one who Red listed this as endangered
Sicyopus cebuensis

But the question is ...... can we Cebuanos help protect this specie. We got this goby from this place where we chanced to see these people

mas maayo if naay maka guide nato unsaon pag padaghan or keep ug goby so ma conserve sila coz ang atong mga sapa ron sir hinay2 na ug kamatay.. ang atong sapa gi himo na ug canal hinay2, then ang mismo nga mao mo tabang nato ug protect sir mao sad ang ato ma kontra.. maayo unta sir naay mo support nato parehas sa kootenai tribe nga nag conserve sa white sturgeons..

Good idea. Maybe ang next trekking nato kay mobalik ta ngadto then mo courtesy call ta sa Barangay Captain and inform him about the situation
