art is partially about symbolism: using symbols to convey a message. so the main point is to understand the message, and then we may see how the use of symbol succeeds or fails to convey it. what does the artist want to convey with his work?
on the one hand, some people judge right away what they see (or hear/read from others); rather superficial. on the other hand other people are very quick to appeal to "freedom of expression" without even understanding what is being expressed, if any.
if the artist does not have any worthy message to convey then regardless what his work looks like -- whether likeable to others or not -- it is worthless.
if the artist has no particular message but rather only wants to arouse strong emotions (Tolstoy's aesthetic theory), then he must have succeeded considering how his work has caused such a heated issue.

so if we have that, we will be a great country then? how come? just because a nation appreciates your so-called art, then it will fast forward to a great country?

woooooshhh!!! the point went right over your head there, didn't it?

if you read my post, it is clear that what i am pointing out is that this would be a great country if people were a bit more open-minded and a bit less prone to hysterics.

also, there's no "fast-forward to a great country". quick fixes rarely work and, in the cases where they do seem to, they usually cause more problems than they fix.

well, if you're going to do that, shouldn't you go all the way? see yourself as jesus, a son of god, powerful, capable of miracles and you've been made human to appreciate more the human condition.

as a human, you see the injustices and persecutions being done by people who hide behind the name of god. you try and free the oppressed people from these so-called men of god by showing them that god does not need any earthly emissaries/symbolism. god is accessible to any man/woman/child without having to go through the red-tape created by the false men-of-god.

to make your point as strong as you can, to show that you truly mean what you say, you allow yourself to get nailed to a cross and die for it.

    then what happens?

decades after your sacrifice, your work gets picked up as organized religion and gets twisted around to serve the corrupt purposes of the powerful. this goes on for centuries. powerful people manipulate, abuse and dominate populations via organized religion hiding behind your sacrifice.

now look into this poleteismo thing with that history. what would you think?

open-minded is relative. Is it being close-minded if one feels insulted of what that artist did or are you close-minded too that you cannot see our side why we are insulted?

Is it okay for me to assume that you are an atheist? if so, that leads me to another question- are you a father? and do you preach atheism to your kids?

Clearly, you missed my point. My post was not about what one believes or feels. It is about what the art meant. I dunno which part is so difficult to understand that you use your 'faith' again.

You did not even bother to research more about the art work.

Know the meaning of the art work first, please. That had been repeated many times that I wonder why you still don't get it. And seriously, if you would not think of pen1s as bastos, then dili man tingali dapat mo react og todo todo. Again, mas dapat mo mauwaw nga bastos inyoha huna-huna nga if makakita og pen1s kay bastos na. Again, and again, naay uban nag worship ana that they don't make a fuss out of it.

Being open minded, meaning searching for the FACT and deciding things FAIRLY. You have been blinded by what you believe in-that is being close minded.

We see and understand your side why na-insult mo. Which is why we explained why there is no need to. Even that part is so hard for you to understand. Makes me wonder why...

That is a question, coming from a close minded person. Anybody who does not get offended by the art work are automatically assumed as atheist. To this I say, L-O-L.

This made me lol. Trying to defend your belief with the so-called RESPECT? Come to think of it. Even Jesus, whose teachings you were 'following' ,did not show respect especially to the Pharisees and Sadducees. Now if you are desperately asking for respect, it means one thing only: either you don't FULLY know your Jesus at all, or you are just being hypocrite. Now, which is which?
