But then you to ask my permission.

2.the art exhibit portrays the current culture and one of them is religion. There is no depiction of catholicism but there is depiction of religion (lets say catholic religion since its the prevailing religion still in the country). Then its is portrayed vis-a-vis political issues, and also other worldly materials.

3.If I may say its not against catholicism, is against religoius hypocrisy.

4.The use of religion vis-a-vis in politics and in the socio-cultural landscape. So why the phallus symbol then? the phallus have a lot of meaning, the artist said its supposed to portray power.

    5. Are you mad becuase you are a catholic and you think it violates your beleif? what beliefs of yours is actually violated?

6-7. Are you mad becuase you just feel threatened that this will lead to disintegration of the catholic faith and all faith actually to be replaced something more carnal and basic, which in truth is what might be the artist is trying to convey.
    1. Let's put aside the "idea" of the image being used and put into context what the image meant for you (as the owner) and for the people who knows and care for you. Then lets go ahead and put the oten or the vagina in your face for me to emphasize how I portray you.

And I never asked for your permission, because you wouldn't agree in the first place( who would, in their right, mind agree) and went ahead and do what I wanted just for me to express my thoughts. It's amazing!

    2. That's agreeable, he wants to portray something and needs a direct relationship from his work to the subject he is trying to portray, never putting in consideration things like... respect and delikadesa. Being an artist doesn't have to mean you ignore your common sense.

    3. He claims that. You said that. It's not what Catholics see, again it is obvious why.

    4. You said it yourself, a lot of meaning. Now don't get wrong the Catholics who reacted on how they interpreted it.

    5. Yes I am a Catholic. Yes I am mad and was hurt. He violated a culture (ours), which is after all, vulnerable to everyone. However, what he did is somewhat, way out of what I can handle (I don't know about the others.)

    6. I don't really care, I keep my faith you keep what you think is right.

    7. Another version of what it meant.

What i think a lot of people here, THE CATHOLICS, want to stress is RESPETO ra jud. RESPECT towards other people's faith & religion. Religion, unlike politics, is something more sensitive and personal. So daghan jud ma-offend.

Now if you are not Catholic, and you find it amusing nganong affected kaayo ming mga Catholic, than this i cannot blame you. Basin wala mo gi-tudluan ug Respect sa inyong Religion. And i'm not saying respect lang towards the Catholic faith, but across all religions, Islam, Buddhism, etc. Maskin lahi2 tag religion and lain2 ta ug beliefs, RESPETO lang unta.

I think walay right ang mga tao diri to look down on those people na grabe kaayo mu defend sa ilahang faith. yes daghan corruption sa Catholic Church but dili man ang mga pari ang among gi-simba. si God man. and kung para namo si God kay represented by a rebolto ni Jesus Christ and so therefore para namo sacred ang rebolto, then no one here has the right to mock at what we believe in.

I wonder what the outcome would've been if the artist placed a d**k on the face of Sto.Nino and displayed his art here in Cebu.
Sir I am a Catholic, please read back so that you can realize that I'm trying to make a point for our belief.

Paeta pud nimo oi paghot man ka diretso dili man ka mosimhot. Maayo pang iro mosimhot pa una mo paghot.

the core of these arguments go all the way back to what you've been fed by the church throughout your life. don't you realize that your very reaction has been conditioned in you by what the church has been teaching you?

the very fact of the matter is that your faith is not your own but a product of your education and upbringing. you have not had the chance to "think" about what you believe in. you are just believing it blindly because that is what has been "taught" to you.

you and many other people who are reacting over this issue are not thinking for yourseves.

that's the very core issue of what is happening here. the sooner you break free from your mindless regurgitation of what has been taught to you and start thinking for yourself, the sooner you become a positive contributor to a thinking populace.
well thats what catholics believe if you dont believe in it then fine. just show respect to what others believe specially if they consider it sacred. im a catholic but it doesnt mean im on their side always just like my stand for rh bill and with bishops who are always messing with politics. as long as i dont find anything wrong with what the church say then i got no problem with it. i hear mass regularly not because of the priests but because of the God i believe. i personally dont like to think freely all by myself because it will just complicate my life. i listen to people i trust aside from my own stand. since i went to mass on fridays and sundays i become very blessed. got a stable job with above average pay with almost no pressure at work, respected even by managers and having a lot of fun at the same time. and i also got a very nice and hot fiance (mura kuno kog naka daug sa megalotto matod pa sa akong mga friends) . in sum total, im very satified with my life and couldnt ask for more even if i dont have a "thinking brain" like yours.

Surely there are less insulting way to convey anti-Church, anti-Catholic, or anti-Christ views.

First I am a private individual, i could sue you for using my picture without my permission. Especially if you will earn something out of it. Not to mention an intrusion into my privacy, because of publicly posting it. When my existence is not vested with public interest.

Second, who will sue in behalf of the suppose painting of the christ? Christ himself? or maybe Da Vinci? Most depiction of Jesus is base on the shroud of turin, which is infact may not be the real picture of the Lord.

This is The holy Virgin Mary by Chris Ofili.

Just For me you can get mad, the Catholic may be scandalized. But he is still within his rights, it was done in a museum. People have the free will to go or not, if they think it will offend them, nganong tuyuon man adto.

Besides, the Chruch is guilty of far more scandalous acts.

I am still a catholic sir. But I was not bit angry about Mr. Cruz, nor was I offended. Catholic laymen and priest alike have done far more humiliating thing to smear God's image than what he did.

At some extent Mr.Cruz has made his point, by the reaction shown by many devout Catholics. One may be able to rethink one's faith.

Anyway just to clarify if it was the BiBLe tha Mr. Cruz used maybe I will be angry.

1.1 Please try to get through the idea I want to imply.
1.2 The idea is how you will react (or the people who cares for you and value you or your image with importance) with the scandalous acts done against you.

    2. There is nothing I can do about that. But it still won't hinder us (Catholics) from reacting.

    3. As you have said before on your previous posts, there are different interpretations. Different folks, different strokes.
