can you give any bible phrase that jesus said to kill other people for him or protect phedophiles followers? ARe the sins done by the priests jesus fault? the church may have crooks so as any other religion but jesus never taught them to be one. we are free to think whatever we want but we must also be sensitive enough to consider and respect what others believe. its not bad to express ourselves but cultures, religion and race should also be considered and respected. i too have aethiest friends but i never criticize them or correrct them on what they believe. its their decision and its their life

again, there is a large need to judge the church by its past behaviors because its character has not changed for decades. and, while one pope may ask for forgiveness for past atrocities, the entire church are still as sinful as they have been.

the culture of martyrdom i am referring to pertains to the people, not the church. the church nowadays cannot fathom martyrdom - consider how they immediately launched a crusade to raise money to buy the bishops new SUVs after the old ones they 'requested' from the government were taken away.

@pugak_79: since the title of the work is poleteismo (which i understand to be the vernacularization of the word polytheism), i don't think you specifically have to go back to the Spanish regime to illustrate the point.

while i've not seen the work personally, i'd say his work is spot on. what does the current filipino culture worship? pop icons, political bosses, jesus, $3x.... it's all there in his work. apart from the overt sexuality, i'd say cruz's work is just above that of what any elementary to high schooler can do given the same theme.

IMO it so happened the phallus contains multiple meanings. Contrary to the public's interpretation w/c is inevitably taken as a s3xual symbol, to Cruz, it was based on his studies on symbols w/c happen to be long forgotten over human history.
