I have and it's not in any way related to "Planet of the Apes" (2001) so it's still not a prequel.

Anyone can call it what they want. It's a prequel because, based on your description above, it could work like this:
a) The first remake was made in 2001 (Mark Wahlberg)

b) Since the events in this movie happened before the Mark Wahlberg movie, then it's indeed a prequel movie.

I can't accept bro this because it's not in any way related to the 2001 remake of "Planet of the Apes"

However, another school of thought is the "reboot/restart/rethink" class of thinking. In this idea, we forget the 2001 movie. Instead, we see this:

1. A new "Part I" (Rise, which was loosely based on the 4th movie 1972 "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes")

2. A new "Part II" (The Planet of the Apes, based on the 1968 "The Planet of the Apes")

3. A possible Part III or Part IV (totally new storylines)

Considering its content, it still can be essentially a prequel to events that transpired in the 1968 (and not the 2001) "Planet of the Apes".

Well I'm a hardcore Planet of the Apes fan. My parents took me along with them to the theater to watch "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes" when I was just 4 years old. I own DVDs to all the 5 original movies (but not the 2001 version). I also made a scratchbuilt 1:72 scale model of the original Icarus spacecraft from the 1968 movie back in my high school days, for a diorama set.

The movie exceeded my expectations. I had originally pegged this as an unnecessary remake, given the status of the 2001 movie. Let's call it a pleasant surprise which should make the following movies interesting.
