Of course I am proud to be a Filipino, why should I not be?!

While I agree with captn_star that we should also take notice and commend every Filipino who in his own little way has been honest, hardworking, and trustworthy of his everyday living and have thus contributed in some ways to nation building. These are the unsung heroes that merits our hymn of praise too. However, TS I don't fully agree with you when you say that we shouldn't be proud when someone like Lea, Manny or whoever for that matter has made it big in their field only because they are their achievements and not ours. That's just such a very limiting and toxic view of being a proud Filipino. Yes, they may be an individual achievement, something that they have worked hard and long but we, as a nation, should also be proud of them in achieving such because it only shows that our race, no matter how others have tried to put it down (even by the Filipinos like you among others), is really a race that can compete globally and can be among the best if only we are given the opportunity, support and exposure.

Yes, I am a Filipino and I am proud to be one. We can be worldclass.Seriously!

first off, d ko fan ni pakyaw or ni pempengko or kinsa pai famous filipino dira.

but it doesn't mean i'm not proud to be a filipino. i am actually proud of my race and my individuality. why? because everytime i'd read a faxed letter from an american boss, my head aches with the grammar and i always end up getting a pen and correcting it. hahahah!

I'd rather be nationalistic than saying I'm proud of being a Filipino. But then I don't know why I'm speaking English now. It's a bullsh*t language.

Me I dont hesitate, not even for a second when someone other than filipino ask me of my nationality
    I don't shun being a filipino

But let me ask this lang and please don't get me wrong:

why are you proud to be a filipino? ayaw na kanang pacquiao, charrisse, lea, or rizal told me we should be

so why proud being a filipino?

I agree with the TS on this one. Yes, they are their own individual achievement and they deserve the recognition for they obviously worked hard for it. During the many sparring sessions that Manny Pacquaio did, he was focused on preparing himself for the win.

If a Filipino means selling used helicopters and priced as brand new, then I am not a Filipino, I am a Bisaya, and I am proud of it.

sometimes man gud those need to be drunken with those false motivations just to keep them going
I mean can't we be motivated by our own capacity we believed in be your filipino, american, or chinese?

My point is why is there such an assertion "Im Proud to be Filipino" and yet we are so sensitive when comes about to questioning our pride.

Mahug man gud ug proud kaayo then super defensively sensitive...mura naa inferiority complex which is kinda ironic to having real pride

The true filipino pride - You have to earn it first.

Having an achievement that is being done collectively, or as a whole, is one reason wherein you can have the right to say you're proud being a filipino.

However, kung magsakay sakay lang ta sa achievements sa uban, for example, kung makadaug ba si pacquiao, or mugawas si charice sa glee, nya magproud to be a filipino comments dayun sa youtube ug facebook, dakong binuang na!

In my case I never regretted being born a Filipino now its a hindrance to me...though, I should say, its a bit challenging being a filipino
