Spring, as someone who has taught art history and the Humanities for over four years, you are in no position to make a statement like this. If you were a professional art critic, your words would hold more water.
Ing ani na siya spring para makasabot ka'g maayo. This was an art installation, in an art gallery, way out of the general public's reach--I mean do you really think the text messaging, mall-roaming, Star Cinema, GMA, ABS-CBN, basketball-artista-hungry mass-media dependent average Filipino really takes time out to visit ART galleries? The analogy is like this: What if karon, in my own house, I have a private art gallery, which I announce to my friends that I'll be opening, and in that art gallery, there are items that people from different religions might find offensive, and I give warning in advance to my friends who are going to visit my gallery. Now, kinsa may buang nga gisultihan na in-advance about my gallery nga moadto didto and say bad things about my gallery and ang mas grabe pa, i-attempt pa niya sunugon akong mga pieces, kay it "offends him"? Buanga the guy, kay balay baya nako na. The CCP was tasked with PRESERVING works of art, and it was a general concensus of LEARNED scholars who decided to put that art installation there--are you all saying now nga mas "professionally proficient" pa mo sa mga art historians and scholars who decided to allow the art installation there? It CPP's mandate to protect the installation there, to uphold the objectives of art, and among these objectives is to STOP CENSORSHIP of the artist's right and freedom of expression.
If was against the company called SM, and I don't like SM Megamall, and I want to stage a protest/rally, didto ba ko sa atbang sa Robinsons mag rally? Diba pointless?
The artist was trying to give a message to the church, just as Martin Luther did in his time (which created Protestantism). He needed the SHOCK factor para lagi maka call ug attention, just as Dadaism, the genre and art movement, did in the early 1900's. People here who say that this artists work is nothing but junk are also therefore saying that the entire Dada-Surrealist-Modern-Post Modern art line, known by art critics as one of the most dynamic and "awakening" art movement line in our time, kay basura sad diay.

I speak what I think of it . When I say REAL ARTIST , indeed they are but it doesnt mean that the artist who was in the exhibit is FAKE . But for the record , I dont know about you Rods , but my HUMANITIES instructor despised my half sleeve tatoo just because he doesnt like it . The fact remains that deep inside him , it is nicely done meant to be appreciated by a lot of people , it just so happens that he doesnt like tattoos and doesnt consider it art but " hugaw hugaw " . My point here is , not all who teach humanities are artist by heart .
What is being emphasized here is , CCP is not a PRIVATE ESTABLISHMENT . Anyone can go there and they cant stop who goes there either . naa ba diay waiver gi waive ang CCP to all CHRISTIANS na " BE WARNED " ? I firmly believed that it doesnt take to be a CHRISTIAN na unsay makita nimo didto is a very big slap and insult towards the church . Heck maybe atheist or other non Christian denominations can say that " damn , thats disrespect !! " and definitely , it is .Ing ani na siya spring para makasabot ka'g maayo. All the artist could have done with all the right and freedom of expression he or she can equipped himself or herself is a LITTLE RESPECT .
And we have to remember also that what's hot is what sells . That could be a big factor regardless of these learned scholars running the show .
And that is exactly why the ARTIST is POINTLESS , if he wants to speak to the church through ART , why is he in CCP ?If was against the company called SM, and I don't like SM Megamall, and I want to stage a protest/rally, didto ba ko sa atbang sa Robinsons mag rally? Diba pointless?
Regardless of unsa na critic ang ma come up , we all share the same denominator that the " artworks " indeed are very DISRESPECTFUL . No more and no less and you and it is reciprocal . As much as dili madawat na ART siya tungod lage this and that , that is because dili pod madawat ang nature sa art .The artist was trying to give a message to the church, just as Martin Luther did in his time (which created Protestantism). He needed the SHOCK factor para lagi maka call ug attention, just as Dadaism, the genre and art movement, did in the early 1900's. Pwerting daghana jud pwede gamiton nato na examples when speaking about ART .
Say an erotic painting . You tell me which has taste and which is garbage although we all know both are artworks .
A sillhouette or a naked lady na covered ang private parts or di exposed or a drawing of alady on all fours , spreading the butt cheeks ? Same analogy na sa issue sa artist , I personally see it as art because its how the artist expresses it but for me , its in bad taste and I share that sentiment to probably the rest of the millions if not billions of people maski mga ARTIST pa na sila .
If I may ask you Rods , would you do the same kind / nature of artwork like what he did or something else ? Daghan pa kaayo pama agi oi to make wake up calls and getting the attention but ang sayop sa artist , the art was intended for the priest na probably he didnt like sa pamatakaran but ang na igo sa iyahang expression ang tibuok simbahan man ?

" A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. " - 2nd Amendment , Bill of Rights of the United States of America
There have been "disrespectful" people throughout the ages who have challenged the status quo and still have changed the world--they have been persecuted and even killed for their ideas. If people continue to use "respect" in favor of the status quo, the world as we know it will never evolve and progress (which is perhaps, what some people like, because they relish and enjoy their current state).

@RODION:
Kindly put your mind intact!
I would like to ask you something...dili baka ma offend if ang image sa imong asawa or anak maoy ilang binuangan as in bastos jud nga pagkabuhat bisan para sa imoha dili in ana ug image ang imong loved ones?
we have the freedom of expression brod pero ibutang sa lugar. gawas tingali kung perverted na nga figure ang gihimo ninyo nga i exhibit!
And although ART itself is very universal , broad , self fullfilling and whatever we may label it on a personal level of understanding since it doesnt clearly define because beauty lies int he eye of the beholder , I only need to ask this 1 question to all .
Was the ART by the artist projects DISRESPECT to the RELIGIOUS COMMUNITIES ?
YES or NO ra na siya .
And I can safely say that the artist was very IRRESPONSIBLE on the choice of MEDIUMS he wants to express his artworks with. Ngano butangan man jud ug otin ang kurus ? Is that morally right ?

TO WHAT KIND OF EVOLUTION? IMMORAL BEINGS?Try to think a little godly brod kay basin nawala na ang imong conscience. You cannot DENY the foundations that was imprinted in our inner self which are real and indivisible with our existence as being made in the image of GOD.
Gawas kung para nimo magpina-mananap ka ug style kay evolution para ninyo!
Yes, the piece is apparently very offensive to the religious community (as evidenced by the multiple threats and arson attempt). And that is what the artist was aiming for, he wanted to make a statement about religion. I don't know exactly what the statement was, nor do I really care. But the bottom line is, it is our obligation to defend his right to say what he wants. Free countries don't censor artists.
