Several kingdoms have forged alliances and are fighting for resources and territory. There is one large nation, the Republic, whose vast armies are on the warpath; conquering many lands, forcing people to surrender or flee.

The Republic's Legions are now burning a way towards the territorial borders of realms unified by the Three Kingdoms Tripod Treaty. One kingdom, Freeholm, ruled by a council of Princes lies at the forefront of the coming threat.

Rose is a 19 year old girl whose life has been ruined by war, whose home has become a battlefield. Seperated from her people, she got lost in the tides of refugees fleeing the coming of Republic's Armies.

Finally, she arrives at the barricaded city of Heimdall, on the borderlands of Freeholm. She encounters trouble w/ the guardsmen for she had no citizen passport and all refugees w/o proper ID papers are rounded for fear of rebels and spies to be interrogated and possibly, tortured.

Rose ran for her life through the streets until she is trapped by a dead end. Her angry pursuers decide to teach her a lesson by having their way with her then and there. As she was about to be molested, a young man appeared calling Rose, 'Eden'. He was bearing a load of groceries. Although Rose has never seen this man before (she may have heard of him, we will get to that later), the young man proceeds to identify himself as Rhawn of Sanctuary Inn and explained Eden, who is Rose, is his sister who is a born idiot...

Rhawn, a seemingly carefree but hardworking waiter, harbors a dark and horrible secret. one that he kept ever since he came to sanctuary inn. one that triggered the onslaught of the republic. unknown to Rose, despite his age Rhawn is a Lord of Legion, the Youngest General in the Republican Guard. The King of Swords Himself, betrayer of the republic, The deceased Emperor's best friend and murderer.

hmmm, I've done a 4-panel comic somwhere in the comic book art jam thread. just some random thoughts though. it's manga-ish so I guess it could qualify here.

and diem also mentioned anime starting off as light novels, FMP is one of them. daghan na kaayo ug Full Metal Panic! light novels. layo na kaayo ang storya sa novels sa anime ug manga.

^yep, most likely before they started off as bundled mangas. :o
I've noticed that most mangas click if it was more of a protagonist-centered plot instead of huge settings. you know, those" me-vs-him" to "me vs the world" kinda roots.

@Junpei: Secret societies featuring two of the most powerful. One wants to free the the Old Ones (Cthulhu Mythos of H.P. Lovecraft), the other one wants to prevent it. The latter is losing as The Old Ones from the beneath the sea and in the earth are freed. Earth becomes a hellish world and remaining humans escape to outer space and colonize other worlds. They never suspected that their escape is part of the plan of the evil society to free The Old Ones imprisoned in other planets. Their hope lies in one woman who possesses the power to forever destroy Azathoth and his minions. One problem, she is a member of the evil society. However, she went to school with a man and fell in love with him but got separated when one of the earthbound Old Ones was freed. Unknown to her, he is a member of the good society. When both of them reached the age of revelation, they'll know who and what they are. In later episodes, they will meet as enemies but will their love be stronger.

In short, this is a Romeo-Juliet, Macross sci-fi, magic thingie

Just imagine the fight scenes against these beings

Atlach-Nacha - A giant spider with a human-like face
Bugg-Shash - Appears as a slimy mass covered with eyes and mouths
Cthulhu - A gigantic, winged, octopus-headed humanoid
etc...
