Default Capitol workers get at least P12T bonus

EMPLOYEES of the Cebu Provincial Government have reasons to be happy.
Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, during the 442nd anniversary of Cebu Province, announced yesterday the bonuses for the employees.

Garcia said the bonuses served as incentives for the employees who showed better performances in their jobs.
The incentive of each employee is based on the rating given to them by their department heads.
Garcia, though, noted that so far no office got the outstanding rating.
Those who got a fair rating will get P12,000, an increase of P4,000 compared to the amount she gave last year.

For employees who got a rating of satisfactory will receive P15,000, while those who have very satisfactory rating will have P20,000. On top of the amount, a Capitol employee will get more if the department she or he belongs is included in the top five performing offices, under these categories: executive, hospitals and legislative.
Malabuyoc District Hospital was chosen as first in the hospital category; the governor’s office for the executive offices; and the office of Provincial Board Member Joven Mondigo for the legislative category.
Employees under these offices will get an additional P15,000.
Meanwhile, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama announced he will increase by P1,000 this year the City Government’s financial assistance to the senior citizens.
Once implemented, the recipients will get a total of P5,000, from the P4,000 they are currently receiving.
With at least 50,000 elderly, the increase in their financial assistance will cost the City an additional P50 million.
This year, the City has allocated at least P147 million as cash aid for the senior citizens. However, it will only cover at least 37,000 seniors.
The Office of the Senior Citizens’ Affairs (Osca) headed by Guillermo Casinillo had asked for an additional P60 million to cover the cash aid of the remaining 13,000 seniors, but the funds are yet to be allocated.
The increase in the senior citizen’s cash aid was announced by the mayor yesterday in his visit to the three mountain barangays-Sinsin, Sudlon 1, and Sudlon II-for the distribution of Philippine Health Insurance (Philhealth) cards.
He also disclosed that he decided to increase the cash aid to the elderly, saying he wants to follow Makati City, which is among the few cities in the country that has best practices on senior citizens affairs.
Along with the promise of an increase, Rama assured that the senior citizens’ financial assistance will soon be released.
The first tranche of financial assistance was supposed to be distributed last July yet but it was suspended after the Commission on Audit (COA) questioned last year’s implementation of the program.
In an interview yesterday, Rama said the P50-million appropriation that will be needed for the cash aid’s increase will be included in the executive department’s proposed P1-billion second supplemental budget (SB 2)this year.
The budget, however, is still subject for approval by the City Council.
City Administrator Atty. Jose Marie Poblete told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday that the executive department already finalized the proposed SB 2.
