Kabantay lang ko ba, di lagi ta magstorya tungod sa NCAA diri. Lingaw sad baya ang games nila this year, competitive. Ang Benilde, Lyceum, EAC kay mu-sukol2x na sad. Ang Mapua kay slump, lig-on2x man unta sila kay naa na si Taha (Fil-foreigner big man nga kamao mu-lihok). Naa man say bisaya nga player, like Franz Dysam (from USPF High, first played with Perpetual Help but transferred to Letran). Garvo Lanete, igsuon ni Von Harry Lanete (former UV PG) naa sad sa Beda, kuyaw kaayo, prime MVP candidate. Murag naa pa gani uban nga wa lang ko kahibaw. Wala lang, just thinking out loud.

Eagles sweep first round

MANILA, Philippines – The four-peat seeking Ateneo Blue Eagles accomplished half of their goal when they swept the first round of the UAAP Season 74 men’s basketball, hammering last year’s losing finalist FEU Tamaraws, 69-49, before a sellout crowd of 16,190 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum today.

The Eagles went to their defense to break away from a tight game, holding down the Tamaraws to just nine points in the third period.

From a 32-30 lead, the Eagles closed the quarter with a 15-5 run to post their first double digit lead. The lead grew bigger in the fourth period as the Tamaraws lost their composure.

It took only 45 seconds for the Eagles to put the pesky Tamaraws away for good.

With Ateneo up by nine, 51-42, last season’s Rookie of the Year Terrence Romeo was whistled for a technical foul after vehemently protested a foul called on him at the 6:44 mark of the fourth period. FEU coach Bert Flores was also called for another technical foul, giving away four free throws to the Eagles that touched off a 14-0 run in just 45 seconds.

The Tamaraws never recovered in losing their second straight defeat to slide down to 4-3 while the Eagles improved to 7-0, their third first round sweep since the Final Four format was instituted in 1994.

“The goal really is to make it to the top two at the end of the eliminations. Defensively, we are in the position we wanted. We just have to improve offensively,” Ateneo coach Norman Black said.

Rookie phenom Kiefer Ravena led the Eagles with 19 points and nine boards while fellow newcomer Slaughter had 15 markers and 11 rebounds.

Last season’s MVP RR Garcia led the Tamaraws’ losing effort with 15 points.
