Officials of the oil industry management bureau of the Department of Energy, said that there is still another roll back to be expected by the consumers, although there are some indications that the Oil price is starting to go up again because the prices has not gone up that much yet. Local pump prices should be reduced by another P0.50 per liter.

But, with regards to the price of the LPG, they said that for now, LPG prices will go down. Other oil companies like Oil giants Pilipinas Shell, Petron Corp. and Chevron Philippines (formerly Caltex) reduced the prices of their liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) products by an average of 56 centavos effective yesterday.

Independent oil player Total Philippines (TotalGas) followed suit and reduced its LPG prices at noon yesterday.

The oil firms said the price reduction is the result of decreasing world crude prices and the strengthening of the peso.

^It seems the rollback on oil prices continue to plague us. Well, I like this kind of plague.

From what I've heard in the news, the rollback on the price of LPG is already the twelfth for this year. More so, we are experiencing rollbacks on oil prices, almost on a weekly basis.

Secretary Neri will now be starting a project on panting Jathropa Plants. The government is positive that using jathropa, we can be able to save $2 billion in diesel imports. (Jatropha’s seeds contain oil extract which can be used to power diesel engines.)

Officials said that if we are self-sufficient in diesel, we can save 30 percent of the $6 to $7 billion worth of oil we import a year which is good for improving economy like ours.

With this, PGMA has already ordered PNOC to to release P500 million. The money will be used to procure seeds and cultivate jatropha which takes about six months to start bearing fruits.

it is possible...given the number of diesel users in the country...and also the coco plantations that we have...yes...in fact the philippines is one of the largest exporters of coco oil in the world...and thats the coco-bio diesel comes from...but we need to raise our production more...
