Tallo leaves Ateneo: Right or Wrong Move?

wala unta nihawa si tallo sa ateneo, pwede unta siya maback-up pg ni monfort, mas maayo pa siya compare kay tiongson. if ncaa siya, ssc-r would be a good choice kay wala na si raymundo n dako sila chance machamp this season. sa san beda, share minutes sila ni baser amir pud.

if ever na dayun ug si mark tallo sa ADMU, back up PG lang sya kay Tiongson... Mas experienced si Tiongson... defintely he will be given a playing time.. it doesnt matter how long or hoe short as long as he contribute to the team... Just like Monfort... He may not be the top scorer in the ADMU but, his leadership and presence gives impact to his team and teammates...

DLSU has a lot of PG/G in their line up... Mark Tallo will be a 4th stringer behind vosotros, sara, revilla....

I don't subscribe to that "it's too early to tell if Tallo was right or wrong."

We are in this forum and discussing topics we are really not a part of in real life because we are "armchair experts." That is why we are here. We discuss politics and many other sensitive topics.

It is "too early to tell" if we made the right choice in voting P-Noy as president? There is no such thing as too early and wait. You have to make your decision on election day, you cannot vote after the term is over.

Right now, I am taking a stand as to what my opinion is on Tallo's leaving Ateneo. My view (with the limited facts I have) is that Tallo's camp was wrong. That is only my opinion and I have stated my reasons why. I have to have an opinion now, and cannot hold my opinion for 4 years. If in that time Tallo blossoms and fulfills his potential, my opinion will change and I will be more than happy to see a fellow Cebuano succeed in the big leagues.

I just don't buy the "too early to tell" or "it's none of your business." We exist in this forum to speculate and discuss things that are really none of our business and premature to pass judgment upon.

After seeing the exhibition game with the Smart All-Stars (Kobe, D-Rose, CP3, Durant, etc), I can see how many "intangibles" Tallo may have lost out from Ateneo which is supported by MVP. I realized that most of the players who got the rare chance to play against the NBA stars were from Ateneo (Rabah, Tenorio, Fonacier ..and then the Smart Gilas team). Surely there must have been favoritism on MVP's part on who to choose. Same thing for Kobe's earlier trip here where he gave a clinic for the college stars.

It's quite sad that Tallo could not take part in that clinic, and may have drawn the ire of MVP. There are the Ateneo people rubbing elbows with Kobe and having the experience of their lives, while Tallo - on the basis of pure speculation about lack of playing time without even playing a single UAAP game - leaves Ateneo and joins the B-team of another school.

Another reason why I feel it was a wrong decision by Tallo (and no, I don't have to explain anymore why I don't agree with that "too early to tell" declarations).

If we speculate for next year, then everything is open to speculation. What if.....What if katong slight injury kay Eman katong Saturday serious diay? What if si Tiongson muhagbong sa klase?

For now the decision is wrong because the only sure thing is that he will not play a single minute in the UAAP and that he made himself look like an ingrate.


I will say in the realm of speculation Tallo's edge over Ravena and Tiongson, his so called competition for PT next year, is his (superior) passing ability. I would rather that the receivers of the passes be Slaughter and Chua. Both guys, who this year and last year, have shown they have the soft hands to catch those drop passes. In fact Chua has been exposed as that most his production last year was from drop passes, he is struggling thsi year because he has to create on his own. The only negative is that those 2 guys only have up to next year. Their next-in-lines have to have those soft hands as well.

I hope for MacMac that AVO develops soft hands. So far AVO has not shown any during his HS and brief UAAP career.

I am sure kahit papano nagmahay to sila sa ilang desisyon. The current Ateneo has the chance to be one of the best ever. Imagine as a freshman gidawat dayun siya sa main line-up to think lawum na kaayo ang eagles sa guards. Good luck na lang Tan-aw lagi nako next year mas kuyaw na si Pingoy kaysa niya. Lahi ra gyud kung nasa Team A ka, sa Team B you will be playing against lower level players basin a hinoon manaug iyang abilidad (hopefully not).

I've read your comments about macmac, bb2. you have wrong info. your always thinking of negatives about the Tallo's Family. try to ask a person that is close to them and that is the time you judge. for me its right move for macmac to leave ateneo. their are many personals reason and I've heard some of it. maybe alumni kalang siguro sa ateneo mao nang die-hard ka. puro ka negative.

Like I said you can only judge people by their actions. I have repeatedly said the Tallos could be the nicest people on earth unfortunately again they will be judged by their actions. What was the action? They left....... AWOL,.... without properly talking to anyone in the Ateneo Team to try to solve the situation.

I have repeatedly given examples. What if an employee leaves their job without notice, what if your daughter's yaya just goes without telling the "amo", Aren't those examples of people who do not show proper decorum?


Just because they are (most probably) nice people we should treat them with kid gloves for a negative act?


Sorry if it is negative, but it is what it is. Every action has a price to pay. Buenafe seems to have done something negative...he is off the team.

Yes I am an Alumni and I know what sacrifices were made to help the Tallos on the path to Ateneo. The Tallos benefited. MacMac got exposure playing/training with what is probably the best college team in the land. He got to train in the US in one of the best training camps. they got uniforms/shoes/clothes. Did they spend any significant amount for all that?

What did Ateneo get in return? They got their coach and a very nice Alumni (Jack Huang) lambasted in the paper and called liars by Mr. Tallo.

Why don't you ask the people who supported the Tallos before you judge as well?

It seems you are close to the Tallos, ask them, ask MacMac specifically what did his dad meant when he told Macmac "keep your status"?
