    Artist Makes Portraits Using Junk

The talented artist Jason Mecier creates portraits of celebrities using junk. For example the portrait of Mariah Carey includes different beauty products, like lipstick and eyeliner.

It is worth mentioning that Mr. Mecier is famous for his masterpieces - he has been creating works of art from rubbish for over 10 years. For his works, the artist uses waste that is gladly offered by celebrities themselves. One of his latest creations is the portrait of US President Barack Obama.

The list of celebrities illustrated on his works includes: Anna Nicole-Smith, Olsen twins, Andy Warhol, comedians Cheech and Chong, comedian Chris Rock and Ru Paul.

Here at infoniac.com we discovered that Jason has always been interested in making art using all sorts of items around him. Mecier's grandmother was the one to inspire the artist.

The portrait of Anna Nicole Smith is made of pink toys and newspaper articles that wrote about the tragic death of the pop star. Andy Warhol's illustration includes the Campbell soup cans that became famous thank to Andy and bananas that look like the ones on the album coverwork he developed for The Velvet Underground.

The comedian Chris Rock is illustrated using a brick wall resembling those found in New York comedy clubs. The comedian is surrounded by different items such as a DVD copy of Pootie Tang and a movie in which he played a role. The two famous comedians Cheech and Chong are shown on a work made up of drug paraphernalia that includes a bong and cigarette lighters. The work illustrating the drag queen Ru Paul includes different hair products, mobile phones and a book entitled: Gay Haiku.

Artists Use Plastic Trash to Make Works of Art

Lumenhouse in Brooklyn, New York, opened its doors for everyone willing to visit the Convergence Exhibition that focuses on the beauty hidden within plastic trash.

Different artists presented their works at the exhibition. One of the most inspiring works is called Indra's Cloud whose author is Anne Percoco. The piece is made of hundreds of plastic containers that are connected in a way to look like a cloud.

"There was a yoga group staying in the same guesthouse as me, in Vrindavan, India. Over the course of a month, they used all these bottles and they piled up in the hallways. I just collected them," Percoco told Art Threat.

Among other works there's Pink Project Table, made of a series of plastic products, and Catchment, a sculpture created using found plastic shapes.

It is worth mentioning that the idea to open such as exhibition came to curator Mariko Tanaka as a result of her collaboration with Project Vortex.

Artist Makes Detailed Sculptures Using Recycled Paper

Using cardboards, artist Don Lucho was able to make incredible works of art. He uses this material to make a 3D world that illustrates scenarios of the daily life of an average person.

Shown at the streets of Santiago, Chile, the cardboard sculptures show crashed vehicles, fallen aircrafts and even the dwellings that a lot of persons will most likely recognize as their own.

The artist pays a lot of attention to details, most of which we quite often miss - hubcaps on a car, or a roll of toilet paper in a dwelling, or the fold of a blanket.

It is worth mentioning that every piece is made using recycled paper.

Artist Makes Carpet Using Cigarette Butts

Jesus Bubu Negron is an artist from Puerto Rico who decided to use the item that is one of the most often littered on the streets and make a beautiful creation out of it. He used cigarette butts to create something that resembles a woven carpet.

The commissioned street cleaner had no problem collecting material for his work. However, instead of throwing out the cigarette butts, Mr. Negron used them for fashion.

His art project was displayed at the Sharjah Biennale. The project also features paper from the cigarettes that was unrolled and put on top of each other.

With butts of different colors used, it was possible to create a pattern that looks like a woven textile rug.
