As for UE, my honest assessment is that they look more like an intramural team than a varsity squad. To be fair, their players are all young, there's no one left from the previous years' squads to bridge the gap and teach the rookies how to play the right way. Zamar and Tagarda are only role players, they can't be counted on to lead. JM Noble looks like he can be a good player, but right now he's too raw. There's a real possibility the Pulang Mandirigma will go winless this season, a total turnaround from their 14-0 slate in 2007.
FEU is talented but they lack heart. They look like they feel that their talent is enough and don't want to get down and dirty (with the exception maybe of Chris Exciminiano). There are times when they show it (like that instance when Foronda chased down the ball, slid on the floor and saved the possession), but if they hope to deny Ateneo a 4-peat they should always play with that kind of fire. Adamson, with the limited talent they have, plays with more urgency and as a result they are playing better basketball than the Tams. Those 2 squads are the ones with the best chance to pull off an upset. JR Cawaling is the key. Every time he plays well, the Tams win. Admittedly it still is early in the season, but the sooner they realize that they just can't flip on the switch when they feel like it, the better their chances of winning.
(Oh and BTW, I now agree that Chris Tolomia is pretty good. He even had a hang time move where he cocked the ball on his shoulder for like a few seconds before tossing it into the hoop. Another revelation was Fabiana, the FEU version of JJ Barea with maybe even better ball-handling. Cebuano Roger Pogoy also made the most of his time on the court and scored 5 points on drives and a freethrow.)
