@ cebuski: i agree bai, gov't needed to prioritize & promote green living. But i guess you also agree nga dili na inarte ang magcge stambay sa mall or aircon in our current situation dba? The reality is, we need jobs, we need investors, we need businessmen (ergo, Malls, Factories, etc..). We sacrificed our environment for jobs for the past decades. Now we have talks about being green not because of necessity but because the west is doing it (sad to say, we're last again). The saddest part is,we actually do not really like(or can't adopt quikly) changes , tukoran og skywalk, mag jaywalking gihapon, i-demolish ang mga sidewalk vendors or squatters rally dayon. Maghimo og flyover, reklamo dayon. So we do it one at a time. IMHO what we need is a good efficient & cheap mass transport system (like BRT), & more public parks, plant more trees. in my personal list, i would make bike lane last.

im with you about the implementation of an efficient mass transport system, preferably the BRT..and of course the improvement and widening of our sidewalks.. and the planting of trees... in this way people would start to appreciate and would walk, shop, enjoy and patronize the business establishments sa atong old downtown, and sa ato common business district...dili lang kay sa mall nalang tanan taw... it would be nice to have a clean environment nga makalakaw lakaw kas atong old downtown, appreciating our heritage sites, shop and dine sa natural setting sa atong syudad...actually these big malls are killing the small-medium local enterprise sa syudad... so its good if the government would spend a budget improving mass transport, pedestrian walkways, better paved sidewalks with consideration of the accessibilty law (para pod sa kaayohan sa atong mga physically challenged nga kaigsoonan), open spaces and parks, and pohon Bike lanes....Yes it should be one step at a time...but we should never stop advocating these things, to give awareness og pahimangno to everyone that they do have a choice to live better, to be comfortable, and to be hopeful that our third world environment still has a chance to be better, that u dont have to be super rich to enjoy, to be comfortable, and to be happy.. middle class and ordinary citizens should have equal rights to comfort and well-being.... its not about copya2x sa western, its about applying whats better and whats sustainable para ra pod sa atong kaayohan...

this video shows a very comprehensive implementation of Bike lanes in a city! the best example of a livable, clean, and less-car dependent urbanity. hope we could have this in Cebu city soon! sure this will improve our way of thinking and change our american-like mentality of having more and more is a measure of success.. cause in the end desire and too much ambition would not bring us any good.. still we all go back to basics...simplicity and going back to nature is what naturally make us, humans truly happy, the inner happiness...

it may be appealing to see bike lanes as you suggested here guys. but, is it practical? can it reduce traffic volume? how sure people will go to office just cycling? percentage of people that like to go biking? can the city afford to widened the streets for the pleasure of a few? this are just few major questions.

there are a few trees in the streets in cebu. peligro sa heat stroke.

what we need are mass transport such as BRT to lessen road decongestion. yet, can BRT handle the volume of people? imagine a few KMK bus den pwerte ka daghan tao.

go green. plant trees in major streets. demolished buildings to plant trees? or pagamyan ang side walk for trees to accomodate?.. ahh dont think so.

mao gani we urge the government to put infrastructures that would improve the conditions of our streets and sidewalks and maybe soon put up bikelanes..if nabuhat na sa cities sa europe, brazil and columbia ngano dili man nato mabuhat diris ato..in fact naa pa sa ilaha sa europe ang grabe ka-harsh nga climate condition labi nag magsnow, but they did it..its a matter of public awareness and political will.... do u think Cebu could still afford to accomodate more bulk of automobile traffic, if we encourage every person to have cars than having bikes? with our narrow roads and poor infras its so stupid for the government to push and force an american-like or saudi-like development sa atong syudad, thinking that we are not that rich... efficient mass transport system, wider comfortable sidewalks that would encourage people to walk, greener streets lined w/ trees, pocket parks to cool off the urban environment...and soon bike lanes... why cant we demand these things, its our right as tax payer for government to layout better urban programming and planning... this are things worth spending for the government..its government responsibility to give us services to make our city livable and sustainable... pila ra ka percentage ang naay sakyanan sa wala? hunahuna-a? baliktad imong tumong nga para ra nis pipila ka taw...ang dalan for automobiles/private cars maoy gahari miski mas daghan common pedestrian nga walay sakyanan... thru better pedestrian spaces, mass transport sytem, and bike lanes, there would be a better social equality and would give justice to the majority in our society, the middle and the lower class. pohon og matarong na atong city environment wa ta kabalo ang mga datu maglakaw2x napod and mogamit nag mass transport and bikes kay mas healthy and mas enjoyable...hehe daghan man gani koy kaila nga mga datu, mamalit paman ganis carbon...imagine nalang nga matarong na ang environment sa downtown and carbon, sus goodbye ayala! hahaha!

we cannot anymore say nga oki ra ni nga minantinilan tag infras sa gobyerno, that is why dili ta mo-improve kay tungod we dont dream big, ato gi-underestimate ato kakayahan kay tungod 3rd world lagi...how can we level up with that kind of thinking... I know Mayor Rama is so into the environment and better city living.. i hope he would do his best to at least improve some of these things mentioned, its so ok just the mass transport and sidewalk improvement usa.. payts na kaayo.

Mas barato pa ang de motor kaysa bike? Asa mana kalibotana ni exist. Of course high-end bikes mas mahal jud na sa de motor pero kung casual bikes nga comfortable good na man kaayo ang 5k. Kadaghan surplus nga foldies nga ok pa kaayo ug condition ah.

Naturally kung imong tumong kay branded jud nga bike mahal jud na. Mura ra nag mag palit na lang ka ug KIA Picanto kay mahal ra kaayo Ducati.

naa mi motor sa probinsya, 2008 pa to namo gi hinayhinayan bayad..3yrs to pay, almost 2k ang amo bayaran kda bulan...2000 x 36 = 72000

byad ra na sa motor ha, wa pay labot gasolina ug mga maintenance n gasto..

while ang bike sako papa is almost $150 mn..150 x 45 (mao p mn ang rate sauna) = 6750

6750 < 72000 therefore bike cost < motorcycle cost

OT: hahaha..lingawa nako aning computation ron.. morag resonable naman kaayo ang prisyo sa motor karon. i think ang pasabot ni yacky2006 kay if magbike naman lang ka, gamay nalng kaayo kulang makapalit naka og motor.. example lang, makapalit naman gani ka og 15K na motor karon or less pa usahay (karaan nga V50). which kung tan-awn sa nimo ang mga nindot nga mountain bike mas mahal pa ana. yaw kaayo ninyo dib-diba ang storya nga mas barato pa ang motor kay ushay tinood man sad.. & besides, sa taga-adlaw nimong gamit sa moto (labi pag 2 mo ang magsakay) dako kaayong savings ang mahimo.. lisod man sad kaayo ipaangkas nimo imo asawa sa biskleta padong mandaue (from talisay).. hehehe
