gun ban is OK but there are some high-profile people (judges, politicians...) who prefer to possess firearms for their own use instead of hiring bodyguards..you can't blame them bec. bodyguards are sometimes susceptible to bribery to go against the persons they're supposed to guard...

there must be extensive psychological tests, background check, etal. before acquiring license to possess/use firearms...however, these tests are somehow not reliable enough to know the exact personality of the person...it's a matter of discipline and responsible use na lng jud..

licensing laws are as strict as it is right now.

if we restrict the ownership to "high profile" citizens, how about the ordinary citizens who just want to be able to protect their family and their property, how about the athletes who just want to excel in practical shooting? guns don't kill people. people kill people.

in at least 90% of cases where a firearm is involved, the firearm in used to commit the crime is unlicensed.

Strangely enough, a gun ban for us wouldn't do a lick of good. Violent crime statistics are WAY higher for non gun-related crime than for ones with guns. We can kill each other just fine without using guns.

gun banned is not the answer... just like springfield posted... guns to kill people, people kill people...

and just think of this most of the crimes commited used unlicsence guns and its made in danao... If I wer u carry a gun... the hell with them if they catch u! ur counter to them is simple " you (law enforcement) cant protect US so we'l protect ourself... criminals can carry a gun why cant we na professionals mi or businessman... case dismiss...

*but ayaw lang sad commit og crime* hehehe

Most crimes are committed by unlicensed firearms. Criminals wont hassle themselves getting the necessary requirements, spending 4k for license plus 10+k for PTC just so he can rob a local convenience store. Plus a TOTAL gun ban will be a joke, knowing how we enforce our laws in this country. Maayo lang sa sugod. Magpa KODAK-KODAK dayun sa media while conducting checkpoints. After the "FAD" dies down malimtan na especially if there are sensational cases needing the LEOs "utmost" attention(kuno). There are millions of loose firearms in this country, even kids in Cebu have easy access to guns. For 600 you can already have a .22 revolver from Danao. The only way Total Gun Ban can be achieved or "close" to being achieved is if there is a Martial Law wherein the military will be involved, conducting lots of checkpoints and house to house search. That being said, if there is a total gun ban, the only people brazen enough to carry guns will be criminals who have nothing to lose or "gangsta" kids who should have known better. Law abiding (kuno) citizens will be left naked. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

A gun is just a tool that gives us gun nuts a hard on. HEHEHEHE

Thats why I coined this term 10 years ago, "Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it".

P.S. If there is a Total Gun Ban, do you actually believe the government has the political will or resources to go after those loose firearms carried by the MNLF, MILF, NPA, ABU SAYAFF, the goons of the hacienderos o ni Don, "goons ni meyor o ni congressman, etc.".

And they got arrested right for ILLEGAL POSSESSION of a deadly weapon ? Of course you will see them but they will be in trouble . YES civilians are allowed to carry a LICENSED FIREARM as long as you will obtain a PERMIT to CARRY . Obtaining one is not a guarantee to have one and carry one unless kumpare nimo si COlonel and instead of paying 15K PHp , couple hundred of pesos na lang courtesy of Red Horse or Johnny Walker .
