WPF in C#, is it worth investing?

Sa mga .net lovers here, as of now I devote my self learning this windows technology. For me this is lot cooler than using traditional winforms pero you must have the luxury of time to learn this. Sa praktikalan is it worth investing dri? needs opinion guys

there is a push on using silverlight technology than doing this. actually this becomes a bit practical to learn if you want to include the ribbon bar control from microsoft, other than that, I dont really know if there is much practicality on learning this.

btw am currently studying this myself, but as of the moment, I can't think of any practical use, pero pwd sd xa as good eye-candy interface for touch screen technology.

WPF - Cool UI and skinnable..

also some sort of MVC like architecture for dekstop forms app.

I appreciate the reply guys, I'm using or trying to implement MVVM UI design pattern for this, it's challenging and fun. I heard MVC pattern is much suitable for web. I also plan to learn Silverlight but i think i need to stick in windows app first. And yeah, eye-candy is the right word for this.

if its fun then its worth investing, i am currently studying it and applying it in one of my personal projects

things that i like are:
1. fast rendering
2. dynamic loading of user controls from xaml files
3. DataTemplates! you can basically create different views of a Model and have it repeat if wanted.

Career Investment - Yes. IT world is active, it changes its mind too often

Business Investment

User perspective - Not so much. If you are the vendor you may need to prove the worth like "us doing manual is already fine, what is in there that our existing system can't do or yours performing better?". There are users that will stick to what they are used to and cannot justify training staff to adapt to the new environment. Fortunately, there are users that can be sold out with a new rich and slick UI so some investment can be put there

Vendor perspective - It all depends on the capability of the team. You also account wasteful things like:

How fast can I create a form/page with this?
Am I willing to spend 2 hours stuffing around with the new designer v.s. 5 mins of VB Form?
Etc...

In short sense, I don't want to spend time figuring out how to put a textbox infront of the form (not a very good example) when I can do it before by just dragging it from the toolbox or just update my Model and it scaffolds its way up to the UI, things like that.

mao sd ni ang reason ngano d kaau ko invested sa pag.tuon ani before. I mean, the idea is nice, but the learning curve was too steep for me. and there is also the question of how practical it is to be deployed sa customers, labi n kay naa n daan ang flex, plus silverlight is picking up.

why not? the things and experience you pick up when learning a new language does not go away when you move to another. for example what i learned with working in xaml and databinding, i got to use when i had to clone the app in adobe air/flex.

what i like about wpf is databinding and it's also easy to customize a ui component among others.

it just boils down on how motivated you are to learn.
