Seriously, I don't seem to understand where this discussion is going. However we dislike the mayor I don't think that will change the fact that Davao will still vote for them again and again. Much as I want to believe that they are just afraid of going against the said family it's nothing but a wishful thinking. People in Davao , as far as reviews and news are concerned, are more relieved that these Dutertes are serving them no matter how we, nonDavaoeños, think about them, even if we say they are not worth the position. We are not the one voting them. We just can argue on what is wrong and what is right but we still cannot question why Davaoeños voted for these kind of governance. We just don't have the control over them, IMO.

If everyone who made a comment on this topic thinks they know so much, try living there first. Let's see kung ganahan paba mo mu balik sa Cebu especially if your source of income can also be found/made in davao.

A Duterte is wayyy better than any G4rc1a or all of them combined.

Doesn't matter, because being voted into office doesn't excuse criminal acts. e.g. Joseph Estrada

Democracy is not only about popularity, otherwise we wouldn't arrest people like Ecleo because he has so many supporters. It is fundamentally about rule of law.

We both know that it doesn't seem to work here in the Philippines, see, there are a lot of loopholes when it comes to election rules.

I'm actually getting your point, Duterte is gutsy and his behavior is improper for a gov't official. That no one's above the law. That's taken.

Now my point is, he was not the first official who has shown "kabastusan" on national TV. We've saw a lot of officials using foul words during interviews esp when they are pissed but why make this one a big issue? Because he's Duterte? He's Davao's man of steel? We're getting selective and it's resulting to city vs city out here.

In any case that these officials will be found guilty on administrative cases, whatsoever there is, what assurance can we hold that these people will not win the election in Davao again? Will those cases thrown against them pull them away from pursuing politics? I don't think so.

I just don't like the supposed comparison of Cebu and Davao because that's sidetrack. That's beside the point. The way of living here is far from how they live there. Cebuanos, Manileños, or any moralist groups can dislike Duterte's way, other officials can sue him down, but will Davao change their mind from voting him? That's the sad reality.

This is what you get for having arrogant public officials in the government plus the fact that the Duterte's OWN DAVAO CITY. It's a Political Dynasty, Sara will settle for just 1 term and then her father will run again in the next elections and settle for 2 more terms.

Just like how Cebu City is an OSMENA CITY, Davao is a DUTERTE CITY. Kulang nalng ilisan na nato ang ngan sa duha ka cities. tsk2.

Really? I don't see his son running for office here. I can understand your point if you refer to the Garcias, but that's because the provincial voters don't vote wisely. Besides which, Garcias can and have lost in past elections.

This is not just about what he did on TV, it's about the culture of impunity in Davao. What he showed on TV is just another proof of his attitude that they can get away with anything, including murder. That's what pisses off a lot of people.

I don't know why you keep bringing up voters in Davao continuing to vote for him. It doesn't excuse his crime if he is found guilty, so whether the people of Davao vote for him or not doesn't matter...

^^ Osmena and Rama once agreed that Ram would only go for 1 term and Osmena will seek re-election in 2013 but then, Rama decided to break it and will inevitably face Tomas head-to-head in 2013 elections where I will support Mayor Mike's re-election.

Just so even if we keep on pointing out the man is wrong, that doesn't matter because he will still be voted for that position again. I gotta explain I know. To make things clear, this is not solely your arguments.

What I'm trying to say is we can't speak for Davao because we don't live there. We just know but we don't understand what kind of life they have. No one's above the law but do you think people from Davao will agree with you when it comes to Dutertes? And much to our amusement even if we keep on insisting he's wrong on how he handles his city people there are still supporting him and defending him. Now what about the law again? Does everyone practice that? even believe it? Their votes count more than our right vs wrong arguments here.

Yes it's wrong, but that's whatdemocracy is for them, so what can we do aside from whining about it? Throw accusations on how better we are than the other? On how they are wrong and we are the righteous one? Can we sue everyone from Davao for supporting a supposed criminal? Nah, those papogi politicians out there are not even standing against Duterte, those so called "decent politicians" who have more influence than we do. Why not? Out of what? Ahmm...Fear? Now fear is above the law.

Now, seems everyone is concerned of the law, why don't each of us file a case against the Mayor of the supposed crimes he is guilty about or support those persons who have proofs that the mayor has done bad. Any evidences? Anyone? Anyone who can help aside from whispering?

Bring up the evidences and have that guy imprisoned so the argument should cool down. So we can all just move on and stop insulting each other, we can't be too selective anyway to each his own. I rest my case here. Blessed Sunday everyone.
