not all programming skills can be "self-taught". probably, but it would take much time for one to have expertise esp. for c, c++ or java.

Naah... most good programmers I know have mastered those languages in high school. They were all self-taught. Schools that let you unfold your gifts are so hard to find in our country. Most good schools can't be afforded by middle-class citizens like me. =)

hahahaha. OK.
so what's your forte?
I think we're about to go OT here.
My forte is C/C++ but I'm also happy to work with PHP. In working with large, high-risk projects, however, I've realized that programming is just a small sub-set of the skills needed to bring a project into its realization. Communication also plays a big role. Communication is needed to intergrate the various components and delegate the tasks to the right people.
Sadly, I do not have this skill yet. Communication is a skill that can neither be self-taught or learned through formal study. It can only be learned by exposing one's self to the real world.
This thread has long been OT.
anyway, i'll take note of your skillset if we'll be hiring again for a web developer or software engineer.![]()
Hihihi. OK dude.... hihihihihihihihihihihi![]()
In most established companies here in cebu or event other parts of the country, they prefer to have a 4 year course grad since they have some standards to follow. Although I always believe that some of these undergrads do have more skills than the rest of us here. Like in my case, were having problems with the constant in and out of our programmers hasul kaayo cge hire and interview .. but our company still insists on a 4 yr grad standard ... wa jud koy mahims hehehe![]()
