Backyard production of fish and vegetables

Do you have a space in your backyard of 2 or 3 square meters, regardless of shape, you can start producing your own Tilapia Fish and vegetables. Ideally, the fish feeds the plant and the plant feeds the fish, totally organic, no chemicals, no pesticides, no fertilizers, once you get the system in the right balance. System is modular and expandable and if you have a fence, you can start growing your vegetables vertically. No water is wasted and ideal for handicaps (except blind) as they can do some simple maitenance work and watch the fish and plant grow. US technologies - standards can produce as much as 150 to 200 or even more fishes per sq.m., Philippine Pond standard can only produce 5 fishes per sq. m. hence you need hectares to produce what 10 or 20 sq. meters backyard can do. This is one of the possible backyard - hobby activity that you can learn small scale and turn into big scale commercial, after all the big always come from the small, if they can make this happen in the US, no reason why we cannot do it in Cebu.

As far as i know, mura'g naa may space requirement ang usa ka fish. Mura'g sakto ang Phil. Pond Std.
Pero worth trying gihapon ni.

There are parameters to watch and processes to ensure the stability and growth of fish in such a tight environment. It is like building an air-conditoned space for 150 people in a close room, so there must be sufficient oxygen, cleanliness-water change through recirculation and the quality of water. It is quite a delicate balance to maintain but can also be simplified.

Obviously, the recent fish-kills, tell us a lesson to learn. The conditions in the Philippines are advantageous compared to that in the US, where they have snow and other extreme temperatures, issues that we don't have to worry about.

Aquaponics is the combination of hydroponics and aquaculture - thus you are able to grow plants and fish simultaneously when you get the balance right in a limited space.

can this be considered as RAS (recirculated Aquaculture System)? nindot bitaw ni siya dyud kung tagaan lang pod ni ug importansya sa government, although downside ani is electricity cost and wala pa ata existing RAS diri sa pinas, that was as of SEAFDEC when I inquired before, pwede pod ibutang ang details diri bro kung unsa process, then kung naa interested, makatabang pod sa uban..
