No doubt she was wrong in her actions but if I were to decide on the case the circumstances alone would have mitigated much of her punishment.

What reason could make a reasonable man not accept a more peaceful resolution to the conflict if it will only make his job easier? Money. The sheriff is corrupt I bet my soul on it. That explains why he refuses to even issue a comment.
So you encourage peace and order by disrespecting an officer of the court, is that so? Hahaha.. comedian man tingale mong duha uy...

The peaceful resolution is to OBEY the rulings of the court as that is their rightful place in society to be obeyed not disrespected and not have their orders disregarded by a mere public official. Unsa may more peaceful resolution, just giving criminals what they want. If you take away the power of the sheriff to enforce court orders, you are making the courts inutile.. ganahan mo ana? Is that what you call peace and order? Do you live in twilight zone? Kai to normal people, if courts can't enforce their decisions or the rule of law that is anarchy, not peace and order.

Watching the video makes me smile.I feel sorry for the sheriff that the Mayor did not respect him as an authority especially if you are the family of that sheriff.Im not giving justice for what the Mayor did but if you were in her shoes, you will be provoked if there is someone who is inconsiderate to the so-called less fortunate.

I guess sending the sheriff to the hospital is her way of apologizing.

There is harm being done but good thing is no one is being killed or something.

    Keep it up Duterte's.
Considerate or not, the court order must be enforced. That is the rule of law. Being poor or being on the side of the poor doesn't give us the right to mock the court, and yes by blocking an immediately executory court order you are mocking the court making it a jester's court that can issue rulings but has no power to implement its rulings.

If being on the side of the poor or being compassionate for the poor makes one right, then she should just join the NPA and fight guerrilla warfare against the government.

    sa yahoo news hah

let's admit it.. may mali talaga dun sa ginawa ni Mayor Sara.. but she is willing (IMO) to trade her job and reputation just to protect the lives of the people behind the demolition.
simple instruction.. for better solution.. hindi maintindihan..

Base daw kasi sa initial reports "Duterte had asked the court for a 2-hour extension to allow residents of Barangay Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Sr. Suliman, Agdao to leave the demolition site, but her request was ignored." Pinahupa man lang sana yung "putik-putik" nilang kondisyon.

i don't know mayor Sarah personaly but i can atest to the kind of leader (or at least she is trying to be). we went to davao sometime ago as a group of representative from local companies. Sarah is one of our host, she is not the mayor yet by that time. she welcomed us. take us for a stroll around the venue. even joined picture takings and personaly explaining what davao can offer? since then i became a believer of the Duterte's....it's not all about bravado but a sense of responsibility for the people of davao. hope we have more leaders like Sarah (not punching people) who has the "balls" to go against to thise people who thinks theay are above the law etc.
kudos Mayor Sarah and to the people of Davao!!!

Wow i was so impressed at what Mayor Sarah Duterte did punching a sheriff! And it hit me we Davaoenos are very lucky to have a mayor like her though im not really from Davao City, i feel proud and lucky. She have the true blood of a public servant and the valor of the ancient Joan of Arc.. and it surely run in the veins of the Duterte's. If we only have at least a president like her.. im sure our country would be able to rise up and be a country admired by the world like we admire Davao City. I hope we will have more Sarah Detertes in our country...willing to defend for what is right for humanitarian reason. May God bless u Sarah for u have the heart of the great and possess the agility and dexterity of an eagle and the fierce, daring, aggressive qualities of a tiger, * which is an admirable quality few leaders possess.* Long live Davao City!

Saludo ako sa iyo Mayor Sara! Kung ako ang nasa lugar mo, gagawin ko rin yon, not once but as many number of people who were hurt by the demolition. Sometimes you need to do it if only to send a message to people who are heartless.Haven't they heard about the preferential option for the poor and the disadvantaged?

Good day to everyone.

pati ang tga Commission on human right etta rosales, kita pod niya ang heart sa among mayor.......

nganung ang cebu kitid man kaayo mag huna2x?
    ^ read and understand

    @maione
the reason ngano kitid ug utok ang uban cebuanos because they are used to nga walay disiplina and some are not reading facts or news, ila ra gi tan-aw is ang babaw nga part ug ang gus2 ipakita sa media para madaot ang reputation sa isa ka taw kahibaw na baya ka media now a days creates confusion and there are some people nga close-minded and ignorant when it comes to things like this

The purpose for the 2 hour extension is for the mayor to ease the "already on going tension" between the informal settlers and the team sa sheriff. Kay her presence alone will deter the riots. Nag gunit na ug puthaw ang uban yet they submitted to their leader.

wala man guro niya gi supak ang order sa court nga i demolish ang mga illegal settlers did2, what she asked is to wait for her before sugdan ang demolition para walay gubot.

iya ra gi DELAY wala niya gi BLOCK there is a difference between delaying and blocking a court order. kitams? even basic facts maglisod pa ug understand. open your minds and start thinking outside the box hahahahaahahah
