this is an insert from a discussion sa fb page ni PNOY. I think the guy who commented had more basis than us here who practically wasn't ON SITE.

you are not here in davao nor been here to understand things on the ground. you are really like a general who directs his people in the battle field, a general whose nearest experience of a battle field are computer games.

before you lambaste the tough lady mayor, please set your perspective right first.

JLS i agree with you, perhaps what happened to the sheriff was the tipping point. Mayor Sarah simply went over the top of her game considering the tremendous pressure and sheer disaster that befell our city. I was there during the moment of the disastrous flood because I live in Barangay Matina Crossing. I was part of the rescue effort organized by concerned individuals.

To give you an insight the demolition should have happened the day before, or June 29. The area were the demolition was to be done is just a block away from our office.
The people there are hardcore and the mayor knows that there would be bloodshed (literally) if the demolition were carried out the way the sheriff planned and wanted it.

The area to be demolished is the area where the sparrow units (NPA hit squads) live. This is common knowledge in Davao that the area is a red area before thus the heat is still there. The mayor asked for a two-hour extension, and not a stay of the execution.

    Why two hours?
    1. So that she could oversee the process itself
    2. so she could avert the bloodshed.
    3. her presence alone can act as a deterrent to the possible powder keg ready to erupt.

But the cocky sheriff thought that he had a longer dick and a bigger ball so he went ahead after assuring the mayor over a phone conversation just prior to the actual demolition.

    Whose fault is this?

    No one

kabaw mo, mas niadmire pako sa inyong mayor kay niamin siya ug niana jud siya nga she will accept the consequences. Stop rationalizing guys! We have to accept the fact that what she did was wrong. Asa man pud ta padung kung sge tag deny? She has learned her lesson. Let her know her mistakes para she will become better!

I'm not saying the duterte's did a miserable job...because I myself is planning to go visit Davao within this year.

What i do not understand is the act itself...why is there a need to throw a punch?

Like I said....violence is a double edged sword...it strikes both ways.

If the sheriff is to blame so be it...but I do not think that he deserved that punch...heck no one deserves to get punched in public and publicly humiliated unless it is a matter of life and death..in short...SELF DEFENSE...

I do not think it was self-defense on the Mrs/Ms. Mayor's part...

But hey...that is her style...if the people think that is justifiable..then might as well...make violence justifiable when the situation could have been settled if both parties kept their wits about them.

I understand the "tumba" style with criminals....unless the sheriff is a criminal himself....who committed heinous crimes..then I would understand the punch.
