well, i would prefer US as an ally compared to China. China rules with an iron hand and i think US rules with some kind of plastic. hehehe seriously, i would prefer US coz it has necessarily all the grips on all four corners of the earth. and i think US can erase Beijing or even Pyonyang in less than two minutes with their nuclear submarines scattered all over the Atlantic and Pacific. but at any eventuality of war, the US Pacific Fleet is just nearby to give Phils some help. but i think China would never make a mistake of messing with US and so does US...

If these statement suggests that CHINA is BETTER than the US as an ALLY then go ahead because US owes money . Let me ask you though and answer it with a YES or NO , you like CHINA over th USA as an ALLY ??

Despite the huge amounts of money involved, the US isn't in desperate trouble because its economy is so big.

Bah... You always compare the US debt...

Now lets compare the Gross Domestic Product of US and China.

    United States $12.5 Trillion
    China $ 2.2 Trillion

The value of all final goods and services produced within a nation in a given year. the US National debt is only 65% of the GDP. The US can pay that and they can still outrank China interms of GDP...

$12.5 Trillion GDP annually can cover the $8.4 Trillion National Debt you mentionand it is only a small change to the US! go figure! The US will still dominate over China!

China and other ASEAN countries have decided to establish a free trade area by 2010.
Chinese leaders said it is Beijing’s desire to further strengthen the comprehensive economic cooperation with ASEAN countries, and to explore more markets.

ASEAN members covered by the 2010 target are the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore. Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam will be included in the FTA in 2015.

This agreement will certainly help our country be more competitive and help achieve its economic goals by 2010.
