    Hi Eve, thanks for the input. Mao lagi its a good deal. The problem is really not buying it but taking care of it. We already have a bunny right now in the cage. If my kids can promise me that they will do the cleaning and maintenance and care for the dog, then i wont have a problem. So i hope to reserve a bichon frise for us kay dilli man kuno dayun ihatag mga 4 months pa from birth and the mother has to be ready to let it go na and that's about mga 4 months kuno. You're right, here they treat their pets like babies, and members of the family. Naa baya mi pet bunny bfore nga namatay. Gipalubong namo sa pet cemetery.

    Hi D`Monyita, mao gyud high maintenance --- dog food, walks, shampoo the dog, teach and train, play and regular vet visits. Morag hassle ra kaayo for me but if we buy one, no excuses ni akong mga kids they have to take care of it

    Hi Ms. Beau, i'd like to comment back on your previous posting re. Turtles. How nice you bought Turtles? Did you put them in a tank? low maintenance man siguro na compared to dogs and cats. I think that will make a cute pet in the tank I had a goldfish before we won at a fair kadtong mga rings ba nga imong e shoot didto sa mga botilya unya kung makadaug ka imong price isda. So gamay pa to siya kaayo before but i raised it for 8 years hangtud namatay kay morag nagka disease akong Goldfish. Since namatay, wala pa nako ma replace but you know what, i thought of turtles too. Tell me if its a lot of work or not to take care of Turtles. How's your pet turtles doing now?

    @streetcar:

    wala pa lagi ko tank...naa ra sila sa may wash area but so far okay ra man sila. the disadvantage is that they don't get to bask in sunlight which they need to according to my readings. so what i'll do is take them outside once in a while. i guess the maintenance would be like that for a pet fish, coz u also have to change the water every week. but with turtles, you get to feed them with anything...even worms, mosquitos, roaches...but i prefer vegetables, kay murag lu-od man nang roaches uy...yuck! im looking at not buying any pet food for them...whatevers in the fridge mao ra sad na ilang kan-on. I'm not really fond of pampering pets kay maanad man gud. Before I had this askal (asong kalye) nga na spoil nako...wouldnt eat unless meat. wouldnt get off the couch. my mother hated it so much that she demanded it be given away (it was her house, so wala ko mahimo). compared to my friend's dog that eats banana peel, bread, rice, etc. so naka-ingon ko nga pets can be trained even in that aspect.

    anyway, for me the best place for the turtles is really an open area with a mini pond and rocks. so im thinking they will eventually be donated to the preschool. There we have 3 rabbits and a guinea pig (these pets eat mostly grass--yard weeds lang--and occassionally vegetables, but they very robust).

    btw, regarding that poodle, yes, as long as your kids would promise to take care of it, then palita nalang. gasto siya but if your daughters want it that much, then i guess it would be worth it as they will learn how to care for a living thing. mura man sad na nga nag take care ug baby, so at least ma kat-on sila

    streetcar, this one's especially for you. you mentioned in this thread that you tried to open a coconut shell once and it was a disaster. well as you can see in the photo, thats the way to open it up. mag gamit ug sundang (butcher knife ba na sa iningles?). hack one end making sure you hit the inner shell. then drain the water out (into a pitcher). then cut--really hack--the shell into half. scoop out the flesh.

    by the way, what you see is a korean trying it out with the coconut (first time at it). kulbaan ko nag picture ani niya woi kay hadlok ko maputol iya tudlo. fortunately it was a success. the place is my grandparents' in bohol...daghan lubi didto wala juy problema if you want buko juice or buko salad anytime.

    whats frugal about this? well, the do-it-yourself thing. or if you have a coconut tree in your own backyard then perhaps consider preparing your own buko juice instead of buying the bottled ones. then kung gusto pa mo maka save, dili manuhol ug mo katkat sa lubi...mag post ko diri ug pic about "how to katkat your own coconut tree" ahaha...kidding

    budget revolves around the needs of my son. came to a point that isang kayod, isang tuka. nakakalokah! talgang kapit lang kang Lord.

    right now i am blessed. not exactly rolling in money...but God has been good...so i have to be responsible. savings is a priority. planning for the future is important. i never thought i could change my ways...but i guess we grow up eventually eh? hehehehehe.

    Hi Ms. Beau thanks kaayo you're so sweet and thoughtful to remember that posting of mine how to open a coconut. Well, you heard that song? da coconut nut is a very good nut when you eat too much you get very fat. Anyway its a fun song well? morag dili man ko kamao mokupot sab ug sundang hadlok man ko ana Ms. Beau. Kung sa ato pa, mosuhol gani ko ug taga katkat ug abli ug butong dire pa kaha. In a nutshell, excuse sa ko sa frugality....i know its authentic looking/tasting coconut butong but its backwards na man so i prefer coconut juice in the can with pulp bits. No hassle i could drink it fast enough than trying to open that young butong. It makes my kitchen so miserable disastrous looking plus naguba pa akong mga knives kay gidukdok sab nako sa martilyo ang knife giduot gyud nako sa butong....never mind Ms. Beau. Palit na lang ta ug naa sa lata. thanks kaayo ha

    hmm, someone mentioned changing cars every 3 to 5 years. well that's what we do because it saves us more money in the long run.

    for instance, first we owned a second-hand datsun. it was fine at first, then we realized that it broke down too often. so we decided to sell it .

    then we bought a honda civic ('96 edition), and for a time, it was good enough for us (there were only 5 of us who used the car on a daily basis.) after three years though, a lot of parts were starting to break down, such as the automatic doorlocks and windows. then the airconditioning system followed, and then it was pretty much everything else. then we decided that the constant repairs were simply too much, and honda parts did not come cheap. after eight years of servicing the family, the car simply had to go. (there were already seven of us by this time.)

    our next option was either a Toyota Revo or an Isuzu Crosswind.

    now, our crosswind is serving its purpose quite well. we can all fit inside and even bring along a few friends, it can handle most types of terrain quite well and consumes fuel quite efficiently. we didn't opt for one that was pre-assembled, instead, we decided which parts we wanted to go into the vehicle and those we wanted out. (our windows and locks are now totally manual.) you could say it was kinda custom-tailored. it took quite a while to assemble the vehicle, but it totally paid off.

    my point here is that while some people consider changing vehicles regularly a waste of money, it can actually save you more money in the long run. (provided that you choose your vehicles wisely)

    and that concludes my contribution to your thread, dude. isteb out.
