    Default Internet browsing problem

hello! i currently encountered this problem.. i can view most websites but there seems to be some "blocked" websites.. it's not really blocked since IE would say "website found, waiting for reply" but then nothing happens.. this occurs on websites such as microsoft.com, friendster.com, myspace.com, nicksplat.com, etc. this computer is private so i am the administrator.. no settings have been changed regarding firewall and router configuration.. i already repaired IE and WinXP but to no resolution.. i tried using Firefox but the same thing happens.. tnx in advance!

Hello I got the same problem with my connection. I can connect to the internet at 512kbps Globelines broadband. Also I can surf most sites however I cannot play yahoo games. I cannot receive files sent through IM from some sender, I can't log in to my MSN account, I can download some movies, I cannot download other movies althought they come from the same site. Personally I thought that this was an ISP dns problem but when I inquired about the matter the Globe just says their system is ok and that they would send people to check on my settings at home, twice but until now nothing or nobody shows up. F-U-C-K! They take their subscribers like stupid.

Bro., just wanna help... to narrow it down: Have you tried surfing those sites from other ISP's. Let say, a dialup connection which is not behind your firewall or router installed. That way, it determines where does your problem originate kung sa ISP ba. However, use the same workstation with same problem. Sounds tedious kapoy jud mag investigate ug network problem anyway basta ma solve lang.

It is possible that it's Globe's DNS having a problem. Have you tried pinging those sites using the first DNS you had?

It must not be those sites' DNS since those are big websites you're trying to get in to. Try the following:

    - clearing cache and cookies
    - go to tools > internet options > privacy and set the slider to low
    - go to tools > internet options > advanced and click the restore defaults button
    - configure your firewall (if you have one)
    - if you're on a network, configure the router's firewall
وليس هناك كعكه ، والكعكه هو كذبة.

Pining a dns server may result in time out, because most isp block pings to the dns server.
Just replace temporary your dns server with 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 and see if this solve the problem.
