Filipinos being trained for a suicide mission!

Maybe not compulsory. Wars are no longer fought the same way as before. By the time the conflict reaches a boiling point, our politicians/leaders are long gone. No more Commander-in-Chief. tsk

Just try to fight for survival, not to win the war.

This is what makes this thread interesting. We have lots of opinions. When people talk about military training, the first thing that would get into their minds is war. Which also means that the need a gun. To tell you the truth, guns are going to be less effective weapons of war nowadays. If we think hard about it, do we really need to have a budget for this? At some point, maybe, coz papresyo na pud ni ang mga magtrain and also politics will also be involved. Nindot pud ni na alternative ang selective service.

Military training is not only for war. Again it is also a readiness training for disasters and calamities. To hell with the marching and sticks but If you just knew that this was just a form of discipline and team work for us then you would understand why we needed it. To hell with sweeping the streets, I don't give a damn to my civic responsibility. To hell with map reading, when we go to other places and we only have a map it's better to ask people and let them know that you are tourists and be prone to rip offs. To hell with rescue and relief operations when there is a disaster and there is no one to save your family just wait for the rescuers and feel useless. To hell with all the crawls and hardships during training, I think I can survive with my weak and physically unfit body. If you think our government is a useless piece of cr*p then why arent we doing something to make it better? Sige lang ta og reklamo na corrupt kaayo atong government. That is already a given. deal with it. Why just keep whining? In our own small ways we can make this country better. dili ta mapareha aning mga tao na dili kabalo mu linya mas maayo pa ang hulmigas. dili kabalo mag low beam masking naay katagbo sa dalan. Manigarilyo sa sulod sa pampublico na sakyanan.

Actually, it was the TS who narrowed down the topic to possible war in his first post, if I understand it correctly.
