    Hello Istoryans!


    Here I am again but in another section of Istorya.net!

    I have been working this job for quite some time now (aside from being a DENTIST) and I can't call myself a PRO of some sort coz even I still have a few things I wanna learn or need to learn especially the techy stuff! Ari ta share diri beh mga PROs, middle PROs, newbies, dummies and wannabees!

    This has been a fastgrowing industry here in our country (WORK FROM HOME) so it would really be nice to share our knowledge to other people on the pasikot-sikots to doing this kind of job!

    I am making this thread for ALL MT's & GT's as a GUIDELINE or HELPLINE for all of us! So to all you NEWBIES & WANNABEES out there, you can ask HERE!

    MY TAKE (post ko diri later wait lang mo!)

    CLIENT SPECIFICS - These are the RULES that your client or the doctor gives the TRANSCRIPTIONIST (YOU).
    Example:
    LEGEND:

    D: DICTATED
    T: TRANSCRIBED

    ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES

    NUMBERS:

    AS PER CLIENT SPECIFICS Numbers and dates: Do not use superscripts or subscripts. Use numerals and transcribe as you hear them.

    Example: 8/22/2008
    8/22/08
    August 22, 2008
    8/2008
    August 2008
    March 30th of 2008
    30th of March 2008

    Fractions: Use numerals. (Example: 1/2, 3/4, 2-1/2)

    ABOUT Succeeding numbers.

    D: Two four by four shelves.
    T: Two 4 by 4 shelves. Or Two 4 x 4 shelves.

    ABOUT Numbers in billions

    D: Twenty five billion dollars
    T: $25 billion dollars or $25 billion

    AS PER CLIENT SPECIFICS Skip "Ahs", "Uhms", “Hmm” except “Uh huh” as this is equivalent to a “yes.”

    D: Yep, Yup, Yeah, Uhuh
    T: Yes

    SONGS/LYRICS OF SONGS

    If it’s a part of the AUDIO RECORDING and not a BACKGROUND MUSIC, then by all means, transcribe it. Still in Courier New size 10 format but ITALICIZED.
