    32 million for 1 kilometer

8 lane road is a fantasy. there are not too many cars in the philippines. a four lane road is already a luxury.....

    again its clearly not efficient.

If you build an 8 lane road and only few cars will be passing on it.

Get real..... so in essence you are wasting money since not all lanes will be used.

and quite frankly the higher oil prices will only mean less vehicles will be running.

so again less cars will use that 8 lane road.

who will use the lane? carabaos

Siguro justifiable ni if DPWH can present a breakdown of costs .. but for now I remain skeptical. I still consider the cost of building roads in urban areas to be that much expensive though.

From the document, I think the were pushing through with the Clark-Tarlac expressway that the DPWH has been proposed in the past pero wala madayon kay walay budget ang govyerno.

Almost half of the budget for the super region roads is earmarked for the 94-kilometer, 8-lane Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway project which will cost P20.97 billion, or an average of P223 million per kilometer.
Naa ra diha nabutang tanan ang bulk sa kwarta ... siguro we would look more into this kung unsa na klase na road ang buhaton. I have heard of simillar projects in Ohio, USA (8 lane gihapon) which the average cost per mile is somewhere around $3.7 Million.. so the $223 million is somewhat pare2xha ra.

Pero knowing DPWH records on corruption, ambot lang kaha ug unsa ang materiales nga gamiton, basin first class unta nga aspalto, basin butangan ra nag bisan unsa lang unya inig ulan magkabuslot2x na hinoon.

My argument is that the $223 million average cost per kilometer for an 8-lane super expressway is justifiable depende sa kalidad sa dalan pud nga buhaton.

If in a kilometer there are 10 parcels of the land with existing landowners, and depending on the cost per/meter, murag kulangon ra gani nang 32M per kilometer if the road will have to be built on urban areas.
"The President said she expected these roads to serve as catalysts to improve access to agriculture sources and tourist spots and boost local economies."

Their may be urban areas covered by the project, but it would be too minimal for their target areas are the rural road development.
