Hi istoryans, need your inputs..

My 8-month-old shih tzu is in heat, and we've been keeping an eye on her because I have a 2-year-old male dog in the house as well (the one in my avatar). I was out the whole day and then I just got a call that they were able to do the "deed". Apparently she was able to escape her crate and got near our male dog, who was on a leash. But still, they couldn't help themselves. It was too late to separate them.

I freaked out because she's still a puppy, and it's not a joke looking after a litter of puppies because just last month, my Maltese gave birth and it's such a huge responsibility. I know about spaying and stuff, but I am just wondering..could it really be possible that she gets pregnant by 8 months old?

I'll try calling the vet tomorrow though. This just happened late afternoon.

Hope to hear your what you can say. I am so worried for my shih tzu puppy.

unfortunately YES.
lets just pray she does not take... i agree with you, she's still very much a puppy.
and aside from that, its not a joke to have so many puppies around

Bring to the vet asap. Newborn puppies are very fragile..they could de from the bleeding if not controlled. There could also be other reasons why your puppy is not nursing.
