@MarkCuering: I have a known place in Bishan that needs a lodgers, try to call this number 92985294 and in Tampines, 9152 0428, just in case you are interested. They are all Filipinos.

There is no overqualified in Singapore, nor age discrimination even you are at 60's they still be hired. Not all employers will convince/hire the 1 year experience, much more in the MOM especially foreigners. What their after is that you have the correct output and result-oriented, and as long you know what you are doing.

Remember, you are not in the Philippines, they have their own law. School recognition by the MOM is not a big factor but your experience is a big factor. They are in need of highly talented and skilled manpower in which they don't have like in IT sectors and Engineering industry. I think if I'm not wrong, they need 80,000 foreign talents for this year, it was 100,000 last year mentioned by PM Lee but it was reduced due to the complaints of the Singaporeans that their jobs are taken by the talented foreigners.

I would not recommend to go to Singapore if you have 1 year experience unless you add up in your resume a more years of experience. That's what employment agency do, they're going to add a more years of experience in order to be approve by the MOM.

    Check this out,

Employment Pass - Before you apply - Ministry of Manpower

    It says,

In lieu of recognised qualifications, compensatory factors such as skills and years of experience may also be considered (a minimum of five years relevant work experience is recommended).

    and as for SPass category,

S Pass - Before you apply - Ministry of Manpower

still, the number of years of experience counts on their criteria.

mostly they will provide u SPASS or EP for 2 years...saka na nila e review if pede ka maging permanent. ang iba nmn 6 months lang permanent na. so depende pa rin sa employeer mo. pero sa sobrang dami ng malilipatan sa sg need not to worry na mawawalan ka ng work. working in SG can be first step mo rin to go to other countries. mas mabilis kc ang processing d2 lalo na kapag magging PR ka na.

    OT:

@messerchtmitt, napakalayo ng bishan for me. i prefer boon lay or pioneer or jurong west area.
