Default Bill on keeping cellphone numbers across networks filed

Bill on keeping cellphone numbers across networks filed
    Friday, June 10, 2011

MANILA -- Senator Manuel Villar Jr. has filed a bill that will let mobile phone subscribers keep their numbers when they change their service providers.

The senator said rising dependence on mobile phones has created a subscriber base of around 80 million users by 2010.

He added that because of promos offered by mobile phone service providers, users will be inclined to "avail of telephone service that will cater most [to] their needs as valuable consumers."

He said that mobile phone users are often deterred by the hassle of changing "from one service provider with miserable service to a service provider with superior service" because that will mean changing phone numbers.

Under his bill, postpaid subscribers who opt to change carriers will be able to keep their numbers as long as their names and numbers are registered with their original service provider.

This will only be allowed if the subscriber doesn't have outstanding mobile phone bills or other liabilities with their original carrier.

Postpaid users who switch to prepaid service will also be allowed to keep their number under Villar's bill.(Jonathan de Santos/Sunnex)

they should register every new sim first, before tackling other problems.

gikan rako Singapore.if mopalit ka ug prepaid sim didto, iscan pa tawon ato passport before papaliton sa sim.

in reality, your number is the last seven digits of your mobile phone number. the first four digits is used for operator identification. perhaps when this bill becomes a law, the last seven digits will be yours to keep when you change network providers.

totally agree on the registration part.
at least they have a way of tracking that certain number if, in any event, it will be used for illegal activities.

    mabuang ang cellular providers ani...

imagine a 09183214567....mobalhin sa lain nga network mahimo lang siyang 09173214567,

unsa-on man ang existing owner sa 3214567 nga number?

mura man ni ug pinabali sa unified ID system.

Maypa diretsohon na lang na ug sulti gud...kada usa nato taga-an ug unique number...unya if you want a cellphone...you just show your unique ID to the cellular provider and mao na dayun to imo cellular number which is the same as your ID number.
