just recently started to train my sister's dog(out of boredom)...

at first ako gi tudlo kay ako gi pa kita then ako pa duolon ang food sa eyes then mo sit ra man siya.. eventually(now) mo ingon ko ug sit mo linkod na man siya when i say sit... pero not always pa.. but when he does i give treats...

    ang pangutana nako is ..
    1. ok ra ba ako leashan while mag training(sometimes mo dagan siya hahaha)?
    2. sometimes mo jump siya sa akong hands looking for food, saon man ni?
    3. ok ra ba if 'sit' ang first command?(i've read na 'come' daw ang mas better pero i've chose sit para mo obedient siya gamay gara ra kaayo siya.. sometimes i'd just wanna.. the dog)

just be patient, keep on giving the command with decreasing amounts of treats until he gets it..

i think a longer leash is okay, especially when you're teaching him the "stay" command

    2. sometimes mo jump siya sa akong hands looking for food, saon man ni?

when your pup does an undesirable action, correct it by a firm "no" (do not shout it though) and put him back on position, e.g., you're teaching your pup the stay command, when he moves before you "release" him from the stay command, then you correct it by saying no and putting him back on the sit/stay position

    3. ok ra ba if 'sit' ang first command?(i've read na 'come' daw ang mas better pero i've chose sit para mo obedient siya gamay gara ra kaayo siya.. sometimes i'd just wanna.. the dog)

it's up to your preference really, though some trainors find it easier to teach the sit/stay command rather than the "come" command. a good indication that your dog has mastered "come" is when he heeds to such command even if he has the chance to run away at a public place.

the key is to have fun with the process.. cut some slack.. don't put too much pressure on your dog and your self.. 15 minutes a day would be just fine.

let your dog know who's alpha without instilling fear on him.

an effective way to train your dog with SIT command...
    - while preparing his meal, give SIT command, if he follows, give him small bites.

that's how i SIT train my dog

karon, pag makakita cya naay mukuha sa iyang kan-anan, nah! SIT dayon without you giving the command... hehehe
thru constant practice and training... i don't have to give food treats for him to SIT

my dog also would jump off me everytime i arrived home... maabot gud na iyang first 2 legs [i dunno the medical term for those, so forgive me] sa akong shoulder and i only stand 5 feet... naglisod jud ko ato unsaon nko to cya... until i practice giving him DOWN/STAY DOWN commands.

Sit was the first command he learned. then UP, kahuman "LIE" then naka-antigo na cya ug "APPEAR" ug "SHAKE HANDS" so far mao lang na amo natudlo kai gikapoi nami... coz dali ra kaau cya mawad-an ug gana sa iya food. so wala na namo mapadayon ang training. hehehe pero the fastest command he learned was SIT and APPEAR. lingaw kaau. wala cya kamao ug come kai arte kaau ni nga iro. dli mu-du-ol ug dili gnahan...

if you have started training your pets, you must not stop though they already know the commands.
they tend to forget these commands if you don't give it to them on a daily basis.

dali ra na sila mapul-an while training, in this case, try to relax lang sa, play with your pet for 5-10 minutes, then go back to training.

training your pets need not to be one whole day. you can have fun with your pets while training. Pet training time can be 10-15 minutes everyday.
and good thing with it is, you can do all your daily activities while training your pets.

as for me, after i got out of bed, i'd pick up my dog's toys while going downstairs and give him FETCH command.
or after i took a bath, while preparing his meal, i always give him SIT.
when i arrive home, when he is about to jump off me, i would give him DOWN command, he would lay down the floor while wagging off this tail
