Reports said we can expect a reduction of 50 centavos fuel price almost every week. This is due to the continues price cuts this past few weeks, this indeed a good sign that the local oil firms has the possibility of reducing basic commodities prices.

Consumer on oil price watch officials also said that it is possible that the International oil prices could also go down by $40 per barrel in the comming months.

Great news...if prices would continue to go down, everybody will benefit most especially those who are in the middle class level.

^ 50 cents per week is not bad.

Added to this, the Senate recently passed the bio fuels bill. As such, it is expected that there will be a reduction on our dependence on imported fuels as we intensify our research and development thrusts in finding alternative and indigenous energy and fuel sources.

i hope it will be used up by consumers sooner than later. but the sad fact there is foreign companies will be the one tapped for explorations.

    Bio-fuels approved in Senate

THE Senate voted 19-0 yesterday to pass on second and third reading the Bio-Fuels Act of 2006, a law mandating the use of natural fuel extracted from plants to reduce the Philippines’ dependence on imported oil, lessen pollution, and provide rural employment.

The new law would provide P3 billion in savings from the Philippines’ oil import bill, said Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago, the bill’s sponsor.

Senate President Manuel Villar said a bicameral conference committee was needed to iron out the differences in the Senate and House versions of the law, but he did not expect a prolonged discussion.

“Both Houses are supportive of the measure, so I think we can come up with an agreement early,” he said.

The bill passed a day before the Senate goes into a three-week Halloween break. It was the 13th bill that the Senate had passed since Villar took over as its president.

The law requires that 5 percent bioethanol be mixed with all gasoline sold in the country within two years of its taking effect. Bioethanol is normally produced from sugarcane and used as a gasoline additive.

The Philippine Biofuel Board may increase the bioethanol blend to 10 percent within four years.

    ------

This could be a good start of having a stable economy.
