Exclusive: GeIL to Unveil New Thortech Platinum Plus Series PSU at Computex
Thortech, a subsidiary of GeIL, will unveil its latest power supply unit at the upcoming Computex 2011. The Thortech Platinum Plus Series 850W power supply will be the latest addition to the Thortech brand, which was introduced at CeBIT 2010.
This power supply has 80 PLUS Platinum certification, which fewer than a hundred power supplies have obtained to date (based on the official 80 PLUS website
Ecos Plug Load Solutions). 80 PLUS Platinum certification would mean a minimum of 92% efficiency at 50% load. Designed with multiple-GPU setups, it provides a single +12V rail capable of up to 70A of power. According to Thortech, the power supply has been designed to sustain its full output even at 50°C ambient temperature.
The iPower Meter seen in previous Thortech power supplies will also be included. It is designed to be mounted in a front 5.25" bay, and displays +12V, +5V and +3.3V readings, total power wattage, efficiency, temperature and fan speed. The 135mm fan can be switched between Silent and Turbo Mode using iPower Meter.
Other features include active PFC and a modular design.
The Thortech Platinum Plus Series 850W will carry a five-year warranty and is expected to hit retail in Q4 2011.
